Pakistani FM engages regional counterparts to push for de-escalation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday held a series of telephone conversations with his counterparts from Iran, Egypt and Bahrain, reaffirming Pakistan’s call for de-escalation and dialogue amid evolving regional tensions, the Foreign Office said.

In separate calls with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Dar exchanged views on the latest developments and ongoing diplomatic efforts.

 

He stressed the importance of resolving issues through dialogue and diplomacy, reiterating Pakistan’s support for all initiatives aimed at easing tensions.

The leaders agreed to remain in close contact amid the evolving situation.

 

During his conversation with the Bahraini counterpart, Dar also highlighted the Pakistan-China five-point initiative to promote peace and stability in the Middle East and the Gulf region, with Bahrain appreciating Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.
