ISLAMABAD: Pakistan security forces killed 48 terrorists during multiple intelligence-based operations in several districts of Balochistan in the past 2-3 days, the military said in a statement on Friday.
“During comprehensive anti-terrorist operations with increased tempo in Balochistan, in last twelve - twenty four hours security forces have conducted multiple Intelligence based operations in Mastung, Quetta, Kalat and Sibi District of Balochistan,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
The ISPR added that the operations were conducted against the Indian proxies, in what it described as “Fitna al Hindustan” and “Fitna al Khwarij” killing thirty-six terrorists.
Pakistan uses the terms “Fitna al-Hindustan” and “Fitna al-Khawarij” as part of its official discourse to refer to terrorist activities that it attributes to India or India-linked actors, and to describe the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and associated terrorist groups, respectively.
The ISPR said that on Friday, during the conduct of operation in Mastung, terrorists' movement was “identified and engaged by security forces,” adding that intense fire exchange resulted in the killing of six terrorists.
“Cache of ammunitions and improvised explosive devices were also destroyed on-site,” it said.
The military said that in another engagement, an intelligence-based operation was conducted in the general area of Shaban, district Quetta.
During the conduct of the operation, the security forces identified four terrorist hideouts, and after an ensuing fire exchange, they killed twenty-six terrorists.
It said that in another intelligence-based operation in the Kalat district, the security forces raided a terrorist hideout and killed two terrorists in what it called “Indian sponsored.”
The statement said that in a swift response by the security forces in conjunction with the local population, the security forces foiled terrorists attempt to raid a police station in the Bhag area of Sibbi district, killing another two terrorists.
It added that collectively in the past 2-3 days, 48 terrorists were killed across Balochistan.
The statement said that sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored terrorist found in the area.
The ISPR statement said that the counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue with full resolve as the security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to eliminating the menace of foreign-sponsored and foreign-supported terrorism from the country.
