ISLAMABAD: Remittances from overseas Pakistanis totaled $3.631 billion in July 2026, according to data released Monday by the State Bank of Pakistan.
The inflows increased 4.5% month-on-month and 13% year-on-year, highlighting continued growth in remittances and their contribution to Pakistan’s external account.
Overseas Pakistanis sent $41.6 billion to the country during July-June FY26, marking a 9% increase from $38.3 billion recorded in the previous fiscal year.
Top Securities, Pakistan’s largest brokerage house, said in a post on X that it expects remittances to reach $40.1 billion in FY27.
Remittances remain a key source of foreign exchange for Pakistan, supporting the country’s external account, economic activity and household incomes. The government also promotes the use of formal remittance channels through various incentives to sustain inflows and strengthen economic stability.
PM welcomes rise in remittances
In a statement from his office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over the remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis in July.
He commended the ongoing contributions of overseas Pakistanis to the country’s economic stability and growth, describing them as an important part of Pakistan’s economic mainstream.
In a post on X, Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad said that the fiscal year shows a strong start, which will help reinforce Pakistan’s external buffers and macroeconomic stability and is a testament to the enduring confidence of overseas Pakistanis.
Saudi Arabia remains largest source
Pakistanis working in Saudi Arabia sent the largest amount of remittances in July, with inflows reaching $914 million. The figure rose 11% from $824 million in July 2025 and increased 10% from $830 million recorded in June 2026.
Remittances from the United Arab Emirates reached $737 million in July, up 11% from $665 million a year earlier. However, inflows declined 7% month-on-month from $792 million in June.
Remittances from the United Kingdom totaled $555 million in July, increasing 23% from $450 million in the same month last year.
Overseas Pakistanis in the United States sent $317 million in July, compared with $296 million in June, representing a monthly increase of around 7%.
