ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that promoting industry and trade and increasing foreign investment are indispensable for the sustainable development of the country’s economy, according to a statement on Tuesday.
The prime minister was chairing a review meeting on sectoral reforms and policy measures to increase investment and overall development of the economy.
He said that, in addition to increasing domestic production of industrial products, effective policy measures to boost exports are among the government’s policy priorities, according to the statement.
It further quoted the prime minister as saying that reforms in industry, trade, and various sectors of the economy should focus on long-term economic efficiency and public welfare.
PM Sharif assured that a comprehensive strategy is being implemented vigorously to meet future energy needs through alternative sources.
“A comprehensive and effective electric vehicles policy is the need of the hour to meet the country’s needs for energy efficiency and affordable transport.”
The statement further said that the prime minister stressed the need to ensure meaningful consultation among all ministries and experts and to leverage modern technology across all sectors.
Administrative transparency and excellent performance across all reforms and initiatives, as quoted by the prime minister in the statement, are the top priority of his government.
