Indian government, protest leaders say no breakthrough in talks

New Delhi, India: Talks between the Indian government and the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party failed to make headway Friday over the protesters' demand for the resignation of the education minister, both sides said.

"We conveyed in very clear terms that nothing short of Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation or his removal from the Union Cabinet would be acceptable," Ashutosh Ranka, spokesman for the Cockroach Janta Party protest group, told reporters.

Talks between the two sides will resume Saturday, senior government minister JP Nadda told reporters.
