ISLAMABAD: Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that the present and future of Balochistan and Pakistan are inseparable, stressing that lasting peace and stability are essential for the province’s development and prosperity.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief met with notables and the political leadership of Balochistan on Thursday, during which he discussed the province’s security, development, and future potential.
“The present and future of Balochistan and Pakistan are one and forever,” Field Marshal Munir said during the interaction.
Peace and stability key to economic progress
The army chief said Balochistan is home to talented, resilient, patriotic, and proud people, adding that a clear national narrative, along with enduring peace and stability, is fundamental to unlocking the province’s true economic potential.
“Peace would help attract investment and ensure that Balochistan’s abundant human and natural resources translate into tangible prosperity for its people,” he said.
Youth must lead national development
The army chief emphasised that Balochistan’s youth are the province’s greatest strength and the most promising segment of society.
He said, “There is no shortage of talent or opportunities among young people in Balochistan, adding that empowering youth and providing them opportunities to contribute to national progress remains central to sustainable development.”
‘Foreign-sponsored proxies’ targeting Balochistan
The army chief said that Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan are foreign-sponsored proxies being used by hostile elements to destabilize Balochistan, obstruct its development, and create divisions between the state and the people.
He reiterated that these hostile designs would be defeated through the collective resolve of the nation and what he described as an unwavering, resolute, and decisive response by the state.
Call to counter hostile propaganda
Munir appreciated the role of tribal elders, notables, and community leaders in promoting peace, strengthening social cohesion, and advancing a constructive national discourse.
He urged society leaders to counter hostile propaganda without hesitation, expose false narratives, and project the true potential, progress, and aspirations of Balochistan and its people.
He also underscored that “the destiny of Balochistan rests only in the hands of the people of Balochistan.”
Participants reaffirm support for peace and development
According to ISPR, participants reaffirmed their commitment to peace, development, and prosperity in Balochistan and Pakistan.
They pledged to stand shoulder to shoulder with the state and the armed forces against all foreign-sponsored threats to peace and stability, while expressing their resolve to contribute to people-centric development for a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Balochistan.
