ISLAMABAD: Pakistan security forces killed 23 terrorists in two targeted operations near the border with Afghanistan, the army said Thursday, a week after a suicide bombing killed 12 people in Islamabad, reported the AFP. The terrorists belonged to the Pakistani Taliban or its affiliated groups, the military said in a statement, accusing India of backing them. The operations took place in the Kurram district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a flashpoint for cross-border terrorism that has worsened since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Military&rsquo;s statement&nbsp;A statement released by Pakistan military&rsquo;s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday said, &ldquo;On 19 November 2025, twenty three khwarij (terrorists) belonging to Indian Proxy Fitna Al Khawarij were killed in two separate engagements in Kurram District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.&rdquo; On the reported presence of terrorists, a targeted operation was conducted by the security forces, it said.&nbsp; During the conduct of the operation, troops engaged the terrorist location and after an intense fire exchange, 12 terrorists were killed, the statement added. Pakistan uses the term &quot;Fitna Al Khawarij&quot; to refer to the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an umbrella network of armed terrorist groups. &lsquo;Foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism&rsquo;According to the ISPR statement: &ldquo;Capitalizing on intelligence with respect to presence of another group of terrorists, in same general area, in another intelligence-based operation, own troops successfully neutralized 11 more terrorists.&rdquo; The statement further added, &ldquo;Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored terrorists found in the area as relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision &ldquo;Azm e Istehkam&rdquo; (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.&rdquo; &lsquo;Kabul harboring terrorist groups&rsquo;Islamabad accuses Kabul of harboring terrorist groups, particularly the TTP, that stage deadly attacks in Pakistan, AFP reported. PM lauds security forces Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by Pakistan Prime Minister&#39;s Office (Media Wing) on Thursday: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the security forces&rsquo; officers and personnel in Kurram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for successful operations against the terrorists. The prime minister praised the professional capabilities of the security forces&rsquo; officers and personnel for killing the 23 terrorists. &ldquo;We will continue the fight against terrorism until the complete eradication of this menace from the country,&rdquo; said Sharif. &ldquo;The entire nation, including myself, stands shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan Armed Forces in the unwavering resolve to protect our beloved homeland,&rdquo; said the prime minister.

ISLAMABAD: The Indian Delhi police on Monday invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967, in connection with the recent blast in Delhi, allowing the police and national agencies to expand their investigative scope beyond local jurisdictions. Earlier this week, a blast in a vehicle&nbsp;near the Red Fort in New Delhi killed at least 12 and injured several others. Indian authorities initially suggested it was a cylinder blast; however, according to ANI, the investigation was quickly upgraded. The Delhi Police registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in addition to the Explosives Act, which governs the handling of combustible substances. This marked the Delhi Police as the first to invoke the UAPA in the case of a recent registration alongside the Explosives Act, according to Indian Asia News International (ANI).&nbsp;According to the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs, UAPA is India&rsquo;s primary &ldquo;terrorism&rdquo; law designed to prevent unlawful activities.&nbsp;The Act, citing Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, requires &ldquo;all States to take measures to combat international terrorism.&rdquo;&nbsp;The Indian Home Ministry defines the act as legislation &ldquo;for the more effective prevention of certain unlawful activities of individuals and associations and for dealing with terrorist activities.&rdquo; Broader JurisdictionThe law extends to &ldquo;the whole of India,&rdquo; while its provisions also apply to Indian citizens outside India, according to Section 1(2)&ndash;(5)(a) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The act also lists the banned groups, which include Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) and Tehrik-e-Furqan (TeF), under its First Schedule. It also authorizes officers from the Indian central government and/or the state government to conduct nationwide investigations, freeze assets, and coordinate with intelligence units in terrorism-related cases. Under its Section 43A, it states that any officer of the &ldquo;Designated Authority&rdquo; empowered by the Central or State Government may &ldquo;arrest, search, or seize property&rdquo; if they believe it is connected to a terrorist act. The powers apply across jurisdictions and at any time of day.&nbsp; &ldquo;Any officer of the Designated Authority empowered in this behalf, by general or special order of the Central Government or the State Government, as the case may be, knowing of a design to commit any offense under this Act or having reason to believe from personal knowledge or information given by any person and taken in writing that any person has committed an offense punishable under this Act &hellip; which may furnish evidence of the commission of such offense &hellip; may authorize any officer subordinate to him to arrest such a person or search such building, conveyance, or place whether by day or by night or himself arrest such a person or search such building, conveyance, or place,&rdquo; the UAPA Act added.&nbsp; While under its section 43-D, the court may detain suspects for up to 180 days before filing charges, which is double the limit under standard criminal law.&nbsp; Consequences and penaltiesAccording to the provision, anyone who remains a member of such an association, participates in its meetings, contributes funds, or assists in its operations can face imprisonment of up to two years and a fine. The law also imposes harsher punishment for those who, while being members or supporters of a banned group, possess unlicensed firearms, explosives, or weapons capable of mass destruction and commit acts causing loss of life or property damage. If such actions result in a person&rsquo;s death, the offender can be sentenced to life imprisonment along with a fine, according to the law. In case such an act has resulted in the &ldquo;death of any person, it shall be punishable with death.&rdquo;&nbsp; The Act also specifies that anyone who, with the intent to assist a terrorist, terrorist organization, or gang, violates any provision of the Explosives Act (1884), Explosive Substances Act (1908), Inflammable Substances Act (1952), or Arms Act (1959), will be &ldquo;punishable with imprisonment not less than five years and up to life imprisonment, and shall also be liable to a fine.&rdquo; The UAPA allows the Delhi Police and national agencies to expand their investigative scope beyond local jurisdictions if cases are treated as a terrorist conspiracy. The Act reflects India&rsquo;s legal mechanism for addressing threats to India&rsquo;s security through financial tracking and interagency coordination.

In the operation carried out on Oct. 24, eight militants were killed while five were seriously injured, the sources said. The operation was conducted by security forces on intelligence reports in the Wanda Sheikh Allah area of Lakki Marwat. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan&rsquo;s premier, while strongly condemning the attack by Fitna Al-Khawarij terrorists on a police training center in the northwestern town of Dera Ismail Khan, said that &ldquo;such cowardly acts by terrorists cannot weaken our resolve against terrorism.&rdquo; Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while lauding the sacrifices of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police in the war against terrorism, vowed to completely eradicate all forms of terrorism from the country, said a press release issued by the Prime Minister&rsquo;s Office on Saturday. The prime minister paid tribute to the seven police personnel martyred while bravely confronting the terrorists. &lsquo;On the front line&rsquo; &nbsp;Sharif also prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and expressed condolences to their families. He also prayed for the swift recovery of the injured and instructed that they be provided with all possible medical assistance. &ldquo;The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have always been on the front line in the war against terrorism,&rdquo; the prime minister said. &ldquo;The entire nation salutes the martyrs,&rdquo; he said.

ISLAMABAD: Seven Indian-sponsored terrorists were killed by security forces in an operation in northwest Pakistan. &nbsp; Pakistan military&rsquo;s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), in a statement issued on Thursday, said: &ldquo;On 8 October 2025, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in general area Daraban, Dera Ismail Khan District, on reported presence of Khwarij (terrorists) belonging to Indian proxy, Fitna al-Khwarij.&rdquo; &ldquo;During the conduct of operation, due to effective engagement by own troops seven Indian-sponsored terrorists were killed,&rdquo; the statement said. &ldquo;However, during the intense fire exchange, Major Sibtain Haider (age: 30 years, resident of District Quetta), a brave officer who was leading his troops from the front, having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat,&rdquo; the statement added. According to ISPR, weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists, who had been actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces and law enforcement agencies, as well as in the killing of innocent civilians. Determined to wipe out terrorism&ldquo;Sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored terrorists found in the area,&rdquo; said the statement. &ldquo;The security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country, and such sacrifices of our brave sons further strengthen our resolve,&rdquo; the statement concluded.
