ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan military has categorically rejected claims by the Afghan Taliban regarding an air strike in Kabul, stating that the site was a military installation housing explosives and drones rather than a drug rehabilitation facility. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Hamid Mir of private Pakistani broadcaster Geo News, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry explained that the strike on a military camp in Kabul was a key component of Operation Ghazab lil Haq. He asserted that massive &ldquo;secondary detonations&rdquo; observed after the strike provided undeniable evidence that the location was an &ldquo;ammunition storage site and a drone storage site.&rdquo; &quot;Because our intelligence was correct and we hit an ammunition storage... the world saw that... secondary detonations occurred,&quot; the DG ISPR stated. He further explained that the facility contained heavy weaponry, including &ldquo;Russian-era Scud missiles&rdquo; and various technical equipment. Addressing reports from the Afghan Taliban and international media claiming the target was the &quot;Umeed&quot; drug rehabilitation center, Chaudhry questioned the logic of such a placement.&nbsp; &ldquo;Why you built a drug rehab center in an ammunition storage center where you have kept missiles and weapons?&rdquo; he asked, noting the facility was located within a military perimeter. The DG ISPR further alleged that the regime utilizes drug addicts for militant purposes, stating that while not every addict is a bomber, &ldquo;all suicide bombers are drug addicts&rdquo; acting under the influence of narcotics. He suggested the targeted &ldquo;military containerized structure&rdquo; was likely a &ldquo;suicide bombing bomber training facility&rdquo; or a hideout for terrorists. The military confirmed that 81 air strikes have been conducted across various locations to dismantle &ldquo;terrorist support infrastructure,&rdquo; which includes core headquarters and ammunition depots. These actions are a response to 53 attacks on Pakistani border posts carried out by the Afghan Taliban&rsquo;s &ldquo;regular militia.&rdquo;&nbsp; Chaudhry emphasized that the military is employing &ldquo;precision-guided munitions&rdquo; (PGMs) to ensure accuracy and minimize collateral damage while targeting those facilitating &ldquo;Indian-sponsored funded terrorism&rdquo; from Afghan soil. He concluded that the Afghan regime must decide whether to support &ldquo;Fitna al-Khawarij&rdquo; (TTP) or prioritize regional peace.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said in an operational update shared on X that Pakistani security forces have <a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/527-afghan-taliban-killed-in-crossborder-strikes-under-operation-ghazb-lil-haq-pakistan-minister" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">killed 684 Afghan Taliban</a> and terrorists linked to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and injured more than 912 others since the campaign began in late February. According to the minister, the operation has also destroyed 252 terrorist posts, while 44 additional posts were captured and later demolished during the course of the campaign. Tarar added that Pakistani forces have destroyed 229 tanks, armoured vehicles, and artillery guns used by terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory. Air operations carried out by the Pakistan Air Force have so far t<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/pakistan-strikes-kandahar-terrorist-infrastructure-after-drone-attacks-injure-civilians" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">argeted 73 locations across Afghanistan</a>, including sites described by officials as terrorist hideouts, logistical bases, and technical support infrastructure. &ldquo;Pakistan is targeting only the infrastructure of terrorists and their support networks,&rdquo; Tarar said, adding that the strikes are based on &ldquo;accurate intelligence information.&rdquo; Security officials said the latest actions occurred during the night of March 14-15, when Pakistani forces carried out precision strikes on installations linked to the Afghan Taliban and TTP groups described by authorities as Fitna al-Khawarij. Among the targets was a technical support facility and equipment storage site in Kandahar, which officials said had been used to facilitate attacks against civilians inside Pakistan. &ldquo;A tunnel housing technical equipment used by terrorists was also destroyed in Kandahar during the operation,&rdquo; Tarar said. In a separate development in the Chitral sector, Pakistani ground forces destroyed what officials described as a terrorist jump-off point at Afghanistan&rsquo;s Badini Post, which authorities say had been used to stage cross-border attacks. Pakistani officials say the campaign was launched after a series of attacks in recent weeks that Islamabad attributes to terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil. Tarar also rejected claims circulated by Afghan Taliban authorities and some media outlets alleging civilian casualties, saying the operations are conducted with precision and are directed solely at terrorist camps, infrastructure, and support networks. &ldquo;Pakistan is targeting only terrorist hideouts and their support infrastructure,&rdquo; he said.

The drones were detected flying adjacent to the garrison city before being neutralised, according to the sources. No casualties were reported and the situation was brought under control quickly. &ldquo;Both drones were intercepted and brought down through electronic measures,&rdquo; security sources said, adding that the devices were rudimentary in nature. Authorities briefly closed airspace in the area as a precaution during the interception. &ldquo;Airspace was temporarily closed as a safety precaution and has since been reopened,&rdquo; the sources said. Pakistan&rsquo;s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting later said the drones were linked to terrorists operating with the backing of the Afghan Taliban authorities. In a statement posted on X, the ministry&rsquo;s fact-checking wing said: &ldquo;Two rudimentary drones of terrorist FAK, nurtured by Afghan Taliban regime, were successfully intercepted by the Pakistan security forces using electronic counter measures.&rdquo; The statement added that no military installation or critical infrastructure was struck. &ldquo;No military or other infrastructure was hit, other than minor damage due to debris of the forced crashing of drones,&rdquo; the ministry said. It further criticised claims circulating from Taliban-linked sources, saying such assertions lacked credible evidence. &ldquo;The Taliban regime claim includes no verifiable evidence as always,&rdquo; the ministry said, adding that official Taliban accounts were known to circulate misinformation and propaganda, including earlier claims about Pakistani aircraft being shot down. The drone interception comes as Pakistan&rsquo;s retaliatory military campaign, Operation Ghazab lil Haq, enters its third week after launching on Feb. 26 in response to cross-border attacks. Pakistani officials say the operation is aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure operating from Afghan territory, including camps, logistical bases and networks used for attacks inside Pakistan. Authorities said the security situation around Rawalpindi remained normal following the drone incident and that monitoring of aerial activity continues.

The pattern was again visible this week after Pakistan launched <a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/pakistan-says-297-taliban-fighters-killed-in-afghanistan-strikes" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">Operation Ghazab lil Haq</a>&nbsp;in response to unprovoked cross-border attacks. As <a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/why-pakistan-struck-afghanistan" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">Pakistan struck Afghan Taliban targets</a> inside Afghanistan, TTP elements attempted to escalate violence inside Pakistan, including failed drone attacks in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Pakistan&rsquo;s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed that TTP-linked terrorists attempted to launch drones in Abbottabad, Swabi and Nowshera, but said Pakistan&rsquo;s anti-drone systems intercepted all of them, preventing any loss of life. &ldquo;These <a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/pakistan-responds-afghan-border-fire" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">incidents have again exposed direct linkages</a> between the Afghan Taliban regime and terrorism in Pakistan,&rdquo; Tarar said in a statement. The message openly described attacks inside Pakistan as an act of &ldquo;solidarity&rdquo; with the Afghan Taliban. An earlier internal directive attributed to TTP leadership went further, declaring that the &ldquo;Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan stands with our mujahideen&rdquo; and ordering commanders to escalate attacks while amplifying propaganda through media channels. <a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/pm-sharif-briefed-at-military-headquarters-as-pakistan-inflicts-heavy-taliban-losses" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">Pakistani officials</a> say this coordinated messaging reflects an operational reality that has persisted since the Taliban takeover of Kabul in 2021: Afghan soil has increasingly been used as a safe haven for groups targeting Pakistan. Islamabad maintains that the return of the Taliban to power removed constraints on terrorist networks, enabling training, planning and cross-border attacks with impunity. Security sources argue the sequence is now predictable. When Pakistan confronts terrorist infrastructure inside Afghanistan, TTP cells activate inside Pakistan. When TTP strikes Pakistani targets, protection and facilitation trace back across the border. Pakistan says repeated diplomatic engagements have failed to alter this behavior and that the Afghan Taliban regime has neither acknowledged nor acted against the presence of anti-Pakistan terrorist groups on its territory. As military operations and militant reprisals continue in parallel, Pakistani authorities say the distinction between the Afghan Taliban and TTP is no longer theoretical but operational. A shared ecosystem in which an attack on one triggers a response from the other.
