Islamabad: German boxer Zeina Nassar, who made her professional debut in Lahore, has said she felt &ldquo;honoured, protected, and completely at home&rdquo; during her visit to Pakistan, calling the experience &ldquo;beautiful and overwhelming&rdquo;. In an exclusive conversation in Pakistan TV&rsquo;s show &lsquo;World This Morning&rsquo;, Zeina Nassar, who participated in the international boxing championship in Lahore, expressed deep gratitude for the respect and warmth she received from the Pakistani crowd and organisers. &ldquo;I was feeling blessed to be part of Pakistan and to have my pro debut fight in Lahore,&rdquo; she said. Nassar, who represents Germany as a hijabi athlete, said fighting in a Muslim-majority country carried special significance for her. &ldquo;Even though I don&rsquo;t have Pakistani roots, I felt at home. As a Muslim hijabi fighter, being in a Muslim country made me feel very comfortable,&rdquo; she said. She described the crowd as &ldquo;loud in the best way&rdquo;, saying every reaction from the audience energised her in the ring. The boxer praised Pakistan&rsquo;s hospitality, emphasising the professionalism of the organisers and security teams. &ldquo;When athletes travel to a new country, we need to feel safe and trust the people behind the event. Alhamdulillah, everything was perfect, from the airport to the venue. We were protected, and that is very important for us,&rdquo; she said. Nassar highlighted how the event brought together athletes from different countries. &ldquo;Boxing is a global language based on respect, discipline, and hard work. After the fight, we exchanged experiences and learned about each other&rsquo;s cultures. We even made new friends. That&rsquo;s the beauty of sport,&rdquo; Zeina Nassar said. Speaking about her journey as a hijabi boxer, she said she helped change international clothing rules in 2019 to allow Muslim women to compete wearing the hijab. Cyclone Ditwah, bringing powerful winds and torrential rains, triggered Sri Lanka&rsquo;s worst flooding in a decade when it struck on Friday, unleashing deadly landslides across the country&rsquo;s hilly central regions. &ldquo;Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to provide all possible help [to Sri Lanka] in this time of need,&rdquo; Tarar said in a post on X. Pakistan Navy ship PNS Saif, which was on a port call at Colombo for participation in an international fleet review, is actively undertaking relief operations for the local populace. The Pakistan Navy has continued relief operations in Sri Lanka for the third consecutive day. On Monday, a Navy helicopter aboard PNS Saif successfully rescued a family that had been stranded for five days, including a seven-month-old child. With the assistance of local authorities, the Navy safely evacuated residents trapped in floodwaters from rooftops to secure locations. Earlier, the Pakistan Navy also delivered food staples, MREs, medical supplies, and other essential items to support thousands struggling in the aftermath of the disaster. Despite all logistical arrangements, including commercial cargo planes with a 100-ton capacity, Indian airspace restrictions have slowed down relief operations. Consequently, Pakistan&rsquo;s aid and rescue teams had to reroute shipments via sea, delaying delivery to Sri Lanka by eight days. The relief cargo includes rescue boats, pumps, life jackets, tents, blankets, food, milk, and medicines. Despite these challenges, Pakistan remains committed to assisting Sri Lanka&rsquo;s flood victims.

In an exclusive interview with Pakistan TV, Ali Ardeshir Larijani, Secretary of Iran&rsquo;s Supreme National Security Council, highlighted Tehran&rsquo;s willingness to assist if Pakistan seeks Iran&rsquo;s involvement in resolving regional issues. &ldquo;Pakistan is very dear and honourable to the Iranian people,&quot; Larijani said, adding we can help ease regional tensions. Pakistan also emphasised the importance of regional collaboration in trade, transport and energy infrastructure, seeking to strengthen bilateral ties through tangible projects. Larijani also touched upon bilateral trade and investment initiatives. He noted that following the recent visit of Iran&rsquo;s president, both countries have intensified efforts to enhance economic cooperation, particularly in agriculture, railway networks and pipeline projects. &ldquo;Work has begun on promoting trade and economic ties between our countries, especially in agriculture, as per the directives of our leaders. We are exploring various avenues to elevate trade volume,&rdquo; Larijani stated. ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has said a truly futuristic approach is essential to move forward. Speaking at PTV Home&rsquo;s programme &lsquo;Rising Pakistan&rsquo; on the occasion of the channel&rsquo;s 61st anniversary, Attaullah Tarar said new platforms are being created to connect Gen Z with PTV. The minister said during Pakistan-India war, it was realized that there was a need to start channels as a stratcom tool. &ldquo;We are encouraging private sector channels as well,&rdquo; he said. Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan TV Satellite has a fresh and new look and &ldquo;our stories are being quoted by international media outlets like BBC and Reuters&rdquo;. He said our strategic and geopolitical situation is such that exclusive stories from here have international significance.&ldquo;We brought new vigour in English media, whether it be digital or satellite,&rdquo; he said. Attaullah Tarar said very capable women were heading most departments in PTV, adding that it is a women-led initiative in the information domain.He said in sports, we got exclusive rights of many series through which we generated revenue. The minister said a sustainable model is needed.&nbsp; He went on to say that we are trying to do collaboration with the private sector for PTV Home. &ldquo;We can make good dramas and do collaborations with the private sector under profit-cost sharing basis,&rdquo; he said, adding that public-private partnership is a way forward. He said those who are leaders in entertainment in private sector should be invited to collaborate with PTV. The minister said today all those who are leading the entertainment industry say they started from PTV. He added that PTV has given birth to the entertainment, sports and news industries. Attaullah Tarar said he does not believe in criticism for the sake of criticism, adding that there should be constructive criticism to bring reforms. He said the private sector will be strongly encouraged in media projects, adding that Pakistan Idol was launched as private sector collaboration at a minimum cost. The information minister said the government aims to expand youth involvement through private sector programmes.

The forum brought together media leaders, policymakers, and experts to address the rapidly changing global information environment.&nbsp;The event opened with Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of Foreign Policy Department, presenting President Ilham Aliyev&rsquo;s message to participants. In his address, the President highlighted the fast-evolving media landscape and warned of the growing dangers posed by disinformation, fake news, hybrid threats, deepfakes, and the misuse of artificial intelligence. ISLAMABAD: In the aftermath of the recent blast in New Delhi, human rights activists and civil society members warn that Kashmiris across India are encountering heightened scrutiny, police brutality, and social hostility, despite the absence of a completed investigation into the attack.&nbsp;The blanket suspicion, they argue, represents a deepening cycle of profiling that long predates the explosion but has intensified sharply since. John Dayal, a senior human rights advocate and long-time commentator on India&rsquo;s minority rights landscape, said while speaking to Pakistan TV, that the repercussions have been immediate and unsettling.&nbsp; He said the implications for the people in Kashmir were worrisome. &ldquo;Two things worry me. One is the moment such things happen. There is a spurt in Islamophobia in the country, which is already rampant,&rdquo; Dayal noted. &ldquo;Young people, doctors, their families in the Valley&mdash;they get investigated, they get picked up by the police, some houses have been demolished. This has caused great worry, and it has been condemned by many like me in civil society.&rdquo; According to Dayal, the response to the blast has extended beyond the capital, affecting Kashmiri students and workers in multiple states.&nbsp; Rights groups report evictions, police questioning, and growing reluctance among landlords and employers to engage with Kashmiri applicants. Activists say the measures amount to collective punishment, applied without clarity on whether any Kashmiri individual had a definitive link to the Delhi attack. Zafar Qureshi, another prominent human rights advocate focused on Kashmir, described the pattern as familiar and politically charged. He argues that Kashmiris are routinely thrust into the centre of national security narratives, especially around election periods.&nbsp; &ldquo;Every time there&rsquo;s an election, some sort of incident happens somewhere,&rdquo; he said, alleging that incomplete information and premature speculation often shape public perception before facts emerge. He emphasised that the ongoing investigation into the blast has yet to offer conclusive findings.&nbsp; &ldquo;What we do hear from the media is that some Kashmiris were suspected. But who were the others? Nobody has mentioned them.&rdquo; Qureshi warned that this environment has given rise to new labels&mdash;such as &ldquo;white-collar terrorists&rdquo;&mdash;that stigmatise educated Kashmiri youth. &ldquo;India&rsquo;s mainland was the only space where they could go for education after passports were impounded and the media gagged. Now that space, too, is being taken away,&rdquo; he said. He added that while some Indians have questioned the narrative, hostility is increasingly diffused through communities themselves. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s seeping into the fabric of society,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;Regular people are believing this narrative and acting on it.&rdquo;

In stark contrast, Pakistan&rsquo;s JF-17 Thunder continued to attract a steady stream of aviation enthusiasts, defence professionals, and families, reinforcing Pakistan&rsquo;s rising profile in the regional aerospace arena. Appearing on Pakistan Television&rsquo;s programme Newsroom, Air Marshal (retd) Arshad Malik, former vice chief of air staff, who played a key role in the development of JF-17, said both Tejas and the JF-17 were products of broader modernisation and self-reliance efforts by India and Pakistan respectively. &ldquo;India calls it Made in India, whereas Pakistan simply stated that it is going to be an indigenous product. Of course, we joined hands with our time-tested friend China,&rdquo; Air Marshal (retd) Malik said. The retired air marshal explained that when evaluating aircraft, experts focus on design, operational maturity, adaptability, flexibility, and overall feasibility. He said international airshows like Dubai, Farnborough, and Paris attract &ldquo;all aviation enthusiasts&rdquo; who closely examine the technical and aesthetic strengths of the aircraft on display. Referring to the Dubai incident, Air Marshal (retd) Malik said while technical issues such as leaks can occur in any aircraft, the manner in which the situation was handled raised concerns.&nbsp; &ldquo;When an aircraft projected as a modern, lightweight, indigenized platform starts to have leaks&mdash;well, leaks could be there, that&rsquo;s not a problem. But how you handle it, that&rsquo;s a pity,&rdquo; he remarked. Taking a swipe at the response to the oil leak, the former vice chief of air staff said: &ldquo;Putting up shoppers to control the leakage reflects the mindset, training, and skills of the Indian Air Force. It&rsquo;s worrisome not only for India but also for aviation enthusiasts observing these platforms.&rdquo; Calling the episode &ldquo;unprecedented&rdquo; and reflective of &ldquo;poor professionalism&rdquo;, he suggested that the Indian Air Force has struggled to project Tejas as a credible platform. In contrast, Air Marshal (retd) Malik highlighted Pakistan&rsquo;s success with the JF-17 program, particularly the Block III variant.&nbsp; &ldquo;Pakistan Air Force has demonstrated through the JF-17 program that it is a viable, adaptable, flexible, and versatile aircraft,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp; He emphasised that JF-17&rsquo;s integration flexibility, including modern radar systems and advanced onboard missiles, was achieved indigenously.&nbsp;&ldquo;We have combat-proven it in 2019 and again in 2025,&rdquo; he added. The retired air marshal said India would find it &ldquo;very difficult&rdquo; to prove Tejas is compatible with the JF-17, especially in light of international acceptance.&nbsp; &ldquo;Argentina has inducted JF-17. Myanmar has inducted it. And very soon, we are going to sign deals with Iraq and Azerbaijan,&rdquo; he said, describing these developments as signals of confidence from professional air forces. Discussing the production framework of the JF-17, he noted that 58% of the parts are manufactured in Pakistan and 42% in China, with 100% of the assembly carried out in Pakistan.

The Palestinian representative praised Pakistan&rsquo;s &ldquo;unwavering and unshakable&rdquo; support, saying the country consistently stands at the forefront in defending Palestinian rights.&nbsp; He expressed deep appreciation for the backing shown by the Pakistani government, prime minister, the army and people. He highlighted the recent statement delivered by Pakistan&rsquo;s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar, describing his speech as &ldquo;clear and honest&rdquo; and fully aligned with the Palestinian position.&nbsp; Palestinian ambassador Zaid said the 20-point plan linked to US President Donald Trump&rsquo;s proposal, which was adopted by the UN Security Council, outlined a three-phase process. He said the success of the plan hinges on the states acting as guarantors for both sides, adding that the Palestinians have the full backing of Arab and Muslim countries and expressed complete trust in them.&nbsp; He said a stabilization force will be responsible for maintaining peace and ensuring Israel does not violate the agreement, while the United States will serve as the guarantor for Israel.&nbsp; He stressed that effective monitoring by the stabilization force, along with guarantees from Arab and Muslim states for the Palestinians and from Washington for Israel, is essential for the plan&rsquo;s implementation. He said Arab and Muslim states, along with a stabilization force, will monitor the ceasefire and report to a newly formed Peace Board, to be chaired by the United States.&nbsp; The envoy stressed that the immediate priority is ending the war, and the current plan presents an opportunity to stop the fighting.&nbsp; Under the proposal, a two-year transitional period would conclude with the Palestinian Authority taking responsibility in Gaza, ultimately leading toward a two-state solution. Talking exclusively to Pakistan TV, Dr Roxolana Zigon said Pakistan&rsquo;s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar was received by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin and both leaders discussed new frameworks and avenues for development of relations between Russia and Pakistan.&nbsp; She said ties between the two countries were clearly entering a new chapter and new beginning. The Russian expert said during the last SCO summit held in China, it was announced that Pakistan will host the next SCO Summit.&nbsp; &ldquo;Therefore, we should expect new steps and further promotion of the dialogue,&rdquo; Dr Roxolana Zigon said.

In Tosa Maidan, a former Indian army artillery range, at least 150 people were disabled and 75 killed, with locals claiming the real figures are much higher. Medical evidence cited by the Kashmir Media Services report shows the conflict has created a mental health emergency. A study by the Government Medical College Srinagar found that pellet victims suffer from high levels of major depressive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse, leaving many unable to reintegrate into everyday life. ISLAMABAD: Tajikistan has dismissed a Reuters report claiming that Dushanbe was in talks with the Collective Security Treaty Organization on allowing Russian troops to jointly patrol its border with Afghanistan. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the report was &ldquo;untrue,&rdquo; adding that the spread of such &ldquo;false information&rdquo; could mislead the international audience. The ministry said Tajikistan continues to take its own measures to strengthen security along the Tajik Afghan frontier.&nbsp; Officials added that the situation along the border remains stable and under the full control of the country&rsquo;s competent authorities. The denial comes a day after Reuters reported Tajikistan was in talks with Russia and a Moscow-led regional security grouping about the possibility of Russia deploying troops to jointly patrol the volatile border with Afghanistan. The report came days after Tajikistan confirmed the <a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/tajikistan-condemns-afghanistan-drone-strike-killing-three-chinese-workers" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">death of five Chinese nationals</a> near the border in attacks launched from inside Afghanistan. Tajik President Emomali Rahmon held meetings with security chiefs on Monday to review the situation, while China advised its citizens working in mining and business ventures to leave the border areas. It added that the assault involved &ldquo;an unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with grenades and firearms.&rdquo;

Tajikistan rejects report on joint border patrols with Russian troops

WASHINGTON:&nbsp;The Pentagon&#39;s independent watchdog said US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth&#39;s use of the commercial messaging app Signal to discuss strikes on Yemen could have put American troops at risk, US media reported Wednesday. US media then reported in April that Hegseth had created a second Signal chat in which the March Yemen strikes were discussed with people, including his wife and brother, but the Pentagon chief likewise weathered that storm and remained in office. US forces launched a renewed air campaign against the Houthis on March 15. Trump&#39;s strikes against the Houthis lasted until early May, when a ceasefire agreement was reached with the help of Omani mediation.
