US Congressmen laud strengthening Pakistan-US ties during Islamabad visit

ISLAMABAD: US Congressmen Michael Baumgartner and Ryan Zinke have expressed optimism about the future of Pakistan-US relations, describing bilateral ties as stronger than ever while commending Pakistan's growing diplomatic role in regional peace efforts, including its mediation between the United States and Iran.

Speaking to Pakistan TV during their visit to Islamabad, Congressman Michael Baumgartner said Pakistan-US relations "are going to be stronger," praising Islamabad's constructive role in diplomacy between the United States and Iran as well as its efforts on Gaza. He also highlighted expanding people-to-people and business ties, saying the relationship is moving beyond its traditional security focus.

Congressman Ryan Zinke echoed that optimism, saying Pakistan-US relations "have never been better." He said US President Donald Trump, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif maintain strong communication, expressing confidence that bilateral ties are currently at their strongest.

The remarks by US Congressmen come amid renewed momentum in Pakistan-US engagement, marked by increased diplomatic contacts, expanding economic cooperation and broader people-to-people exchanges. Pakistan has also drawn international attention for its constructive diplomatic efforts, including facilitating engagement between Washington and Tehran and supporting regional peace initiatives.

During their visit to the federal capital, the two lawmakers toured the Lok Virsa Museum and the Pakistan Monument, where they explored Pakistan's rich history, diverse cultures, languages and ethnic heritage.

Their visit to Pakistan continues with meetings and cultural engagements in Lahore.
