ISLAMABAD: Leaders from Canada, France, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, and the United Kingdom held a joint video call on Monday to address the escalating crisis in the Middle East, according to a statement from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s office and Qatar News Agency (QNA).
The call brought together Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, King Abdullah II of Jordan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Chaired by President Macron, the leaders emphasized the urgent need to advance peace and security in the region. They agreed on prioritizing a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, securing the release of all hostages, disarming Hamas, and significantly increasing humanitarian aid for Palestinian civilians.
The discussion also touched upon recent regional developments, including the Israeli airstrike on Qatar, along with other issues of shared concern, according to QNA.
