Pakistan signs agreement for installation of ‘Vessel Monitoring System’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Maritime Security Agency on Saturday signed an agreement for the installation of “Vessel Monitoring System” which would play an important role in making maritime system and maritime security more effective. 

 The agreement comes amid increasing tensions between US and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz. 

According to a press release, the project would “ensure the safety, integrity, maritime sector awareness and sustainable use of marine resources of fishermen.” 

The ceremony, attended by representatives of federal and provincial governments, was held at Pakistan Maritime Security Agency Headquarters Karachi

The modern monitoring system would further strengthen the protection of country’s maritime interests and important marine resources, the press release said, adding that Pakistan Maritime Security Agency was committed to “protecting maritime security and national maritime interests through innovative measures.”

“The signing of the agreement is a significant step towards ensuring Pakistan’s internal and external maritime security and development initiatives,” it said.
