ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s merchandise exports to North America rose 1.32% to $6.503 billion in FY26, up from $6.418 billion in the previous fiscal year, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
Imports from the region also recorded significant growth, rising 6.52% to $3.822 billion from $3.588 billion a year earlier.
The increase in imports follows the implementation of a new trade understanding under which Pakistan is expected to expand imports of goods from the United States, including oil and other commodities, to help reduce the bilateral trade imbalance.
During FY26, Pakistan’s imports from the United States surged by 38.93% to $3.265 billion, up from $2.350 billion in the previous fiscal year. In contrast, exports to the US posted modest growth of 1.55%, reaching $6.125 billion compared to $6.031 billion in FY25.
The latest figures come amid changes in US trade policy under President Donald Trump, who introduced additional tariffs while extending limited reciprocal tariff relief to Pakistan.
The United States remained Pakistan’s largest export destination in North America, accounting for nearly 94% of the country’s total exports to the region. The remaining exports were primarily destined for Canada and other North American markets.
Exports to Canada, however, declined by 2.30% to $377.455 million in FY26 from $386.347 million in the previous fiscal year.
In FY25, Pakistan’s exports to North America had grown by 9.97% to $6.415 billion, largely driven by higher textile and apparel shipments to the US market.
Trade with other regions of the Americas showed mixed performance during FY26. Exports to Latin America declined by 8.32% to $66.98 million, while exports to Central America fell 2.11% to $165.86 million.
Mexico remained Pakistan’s largest export destination in Central America, although exports to the country decreased by 6.25% to $122.03 million from $130.17 million in the previous year.
Meanwhile, exports to South America, including Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay, recorded a positive trend, increasing 15% to $402.39 million in FY26 compared to $349.88 million in FY25.
