ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Ministry of Commerce will host the 10th Pakistan-Iran Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting in Islamabad on August 4, aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two neighboring countries, according to a statement by the Press Information Department (PID).
It said that the meeting will be co-chaired by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Iranian Minister for Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Atabak, with Special Secretary Commerce Syed Hamid Ali and senior officials from both sides also taking part.
A 22-member high-level Iranian official delegation will attend, along with a 16-member business delegation led by the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA).
The business delegation represents key sectors including food, agribusiness, logistics, shipping, transportation, energy and manufacturing, offering an opportunity to enhance private-sector engagement and business linkages between the two countries, it added.
The statement said that the Joint Trade Committee is set to review progress on bilateral trade initiatives and discuss measures to advance the Pakistan-Iran Free Trade Agreement, facilitate cross-border trade, strengthen customs and banking cooperation, improve transport and transit connectivity, and expand investment and commercial collaboration.
It added that the meeting reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Iran to deepen their economic partnership, enhance regional connectivity and create new opportunities for trade and investment.
The talks come as tensions in the wider Middle East show signs of easing. Regional countries including Qatar, Jordan, Türkiye, and Pakistan are calling to de-escalate and return to diplomacy after US President Donald Trump said he would order American forces to hold off on strikes he had threatened against Iran, citing progress toward the outlines of a deal to end the conflict.
