Pakistan retaliates after Afghan border forces launch unprovoked shelling: police

ISLAMABAD: Afghan border forces fired unprovoked artillery rounds into Pakistan’s northwestern District Kurram Saturday night, district police confirmed to Pakistan TV Digital.


According to a police official, the incident occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m., when Afghan forces “fired 6–7 artillery rounds” into the Upper Kurram area. The official said Pakistani forces “responded with heavy weaponry.”


“It was initiated from the Afghan side,” the police official told Pakistan TV Digital. He added that “relative calm had returned” by the time the report was filed.
