ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Monday shared video footage showing security forces carrying out precision strikes against terrorist camps in Afghanistan under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, following a series of deadly terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.
Posting the footage on X, Tarar said security forces targeted terrorist camps and safe havens of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and Fitna al-Khwarij in Afghanistan's Paktia, Paktika and Kunar provinces during the night of June 28-29.
“Under Operation Ghazb Lil Haq, security forces precisely struck terrorist camps and safe havens of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and Fitna al-Khwarij in Paktia, Paktika and Kunar, eliminating terrorists and destroying weapons and ammunition stockpiles,” Tarar wrote.
According to the minister, the operation followed multiple recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan that targeted civilians in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh provinces.
In a previous post, Tarar said Pakistani security forces first carried out an intelligence-based ground operation near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur district on June 28, during which four terrorists, including alleged high-value commander Khan Farosh alias Zabal, were killed.
He said the cross-border strikes were conducted later that night on the basis of “credible intelligence,” targeting three terrorists' hideouts in Paktia, Paktika and Kunar.
According to Tarar, 25 terrorists were killed in the precision strikes, while large quantities of weapons and ammunition stored at the camps were destroyed.
The minister said Pakistan had consistently sought peace and stability in the region but would not compromise on the safety and security of its citizens.
“Our relentless counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” he said.
Pakistan has accused terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory of carrying out attacks inside the country. It has repeatedly urged Afghanistan's Taliban authorities to prevent its soil from being used against Pakistan.
