ISLAMABAD: Ghana Chief of Defense Staff Lieutenant General William Agyapong on Thursday called on Pakistan Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir at General Headquarters, where both sides resolved to enhance military-to-military relations, specifically focusing on joint training, counter-terrorism, and defense production, the military's media wing said.
According to the statement, upon the arrival of the Ghanaian security official, the dignitary was presented a Guard of Honor by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent.
It added that during the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security, and bilateral defense cooperation were discussed.
“Both sides resolved to enhance military-to-military relations, specifically focusing on joint training, counter-terrorism, and defence production,” the statement added.
The military media said that the visiting dignitary “highly commended” the Pakistan Armed Forces for their “professionalism and role” in regional stability.
It added that later, National Security Coordinator of the Republic of Ghana Abdul Razak Osman called on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf at Naval Headquarters, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters, Islamabad. Ghanaian chief was also present, said the statement.
Pakistan, over the past years, has proactively expanded its bilateral defense relations with countries of the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.
Last week, General Metin Tokel, commander of the Turkish Land Forces, met CDF Munir at army headquarters in Rawalpindi.
During the meeting with the Turkish land forces, matters of mutual professional interest, regional security dynamics, and avenues for enhanced bilateral defense cooperation were discussed, the military’s media wing said in a statement.
