ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday condemned the attack while appreciating the security forces foiling attack, killing two militants, who attempted to breach the Cadet College Wana in South Waziristan district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said in a statement.
The attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the main gate, causing its collapse and damaging nearby infrastructure, the statement said.
Three militants managed to enter the college premises but were cornered in the college’s administrative block, it added.
However, their attempt was swiftly foiled due to the vigilant and resolute response of the security forces.
“Khwarij hiding inside the college premises are in contact with their masters and handlers in Afghanistan and are receiving instructions,” the statement further said.
The statement noted that this act was “orchestrated by Khwarij from Afghanistan,” contradicting the claims of the Afghan Taliban regime that such militant groups do not operate from their soil.
“Pakistan reserves the right to respond against terrorists and their leadership present in Afghanistan,” the statement warned.
“These Khwarij, belonging to the Indian proxy group Fitna al-Khwarij, have once again attempted to repeat the barbaric act of terrorism carried out at the Army Public School in Peshawar in 2014,” it added.
The attack, it said, was aimed at instilling fear among the young generation of the erstwhile tribal areas who are pursuing quality education at their doorstep to excel in life.
A clearance operation is currently being conducted by security forces. The statement reaffirmed that the ongoing Counter-Terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eliminate the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
