SHUSHA, AZERBAIJAN: Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department Hikmet Hajiyev has praised Pakistan’s mediation during the recent Gulf tensions, saying Islamabad demonstrated strategic wisdom and responsible leadership by supporting efforts aimed at reducing tensions and encouraging dialogue.

In an exclusive interview with Pakistan TV, Hajiyev said Pakistan’s leadership dedicated significant time and effort to promoting peace at a critical moment, helping create conditions for de-escalation.

“Pakistani leadership dedicates its valuable time, valuable efforts to the dedication of the peace,” he added.

He said Pakistan’s constructive engagement highlighted its growing geostrategic importance in global affairs and reflected its commitment to regional and international stability.

Highlighting the close ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, Hajiyev described the relationship as a strategic partnership built on mutual trust and unwavering support.

He praised the close understanding between the leadership of the two countries and said bilateral cooperation continues to expand across multiple sectors.

“At the political level and the geostrategic level, the relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan are excellent,” he said.

The assistant to the Azerbaijani president stressed that there is considerable potential to strengthen economic and commercial relations.

He called for greater business-to-business engagement, increased awareness of investment opportunities, and closer cooperation between the private sectors of both countries.

He also welcomed the growth in tourism, facilitated by expanding direct air connectivity, while emphasizing the need to further deepen cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts.

Turning to media cooperation, Hajiyev appreciated the active participation of Pakistani journalists in the Shusha Global Media Forum since its launch.

He said Azerbaijan established the forum to restore Shusha’s historic role as a center of intellectual and cultural dialogue while providing an international platform to discuss challenges facing modern media, including disinformation, artificial intelligence and strategic communication.

He also welcomed growing collaboration between Pakistani and Azerbaijani media organizations, expressing hope that increased exchanges would further strengthen understanding and friendship between the two brotherly nations.
