24 Fitna al-Khwarij terrorists killed in Bannu, adjoining areas: Pakistan military

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan security forces killed 24 terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy, Fitna al-Khwarij, in Bannu District and adjoining areas in the last 24 hours.

“In the backdrop of recent surge in terrorist activities against police and vehicle borne suicide bombing in Bannu District, in which Indian Proxy Fitna al-Khwarij targeted law enforcement agencies and innocent civilians, security forces have initiated extensive joint intelligence-based operations to hunt the perpetrators of these heinous attacks and their support infrastructure.”

In the last 24 hours, following the fierce fire exchanges in Bannu district and adjoining areas, 24 khwarij (terrorists) belonging to Indian proxy Fitna al-Khwarij have been killed, said a statement released by the Pakistan military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on Friday.

Operation ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’

The ISPR press release said, “Weapons and ammunition have also been recovered from the killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities and killing of innocent civilians.”

“The operations in the area would continue and perpetrators of these henious and cowardly act will be brought to justice, as the relentless counter terrorism campaign under vision “Azm-e-Istehkam” (as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the statement said.

President pays tribute to security forces

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the security forces for their successful operations against Fitna al-Khwarij in Bannu and adjoining areas, stating that operations against Fitna al-Khwarij, which he said is active under Indian patronage, and their facilitators will be carried through to their logical conclusion.

According to a statement issued by the Press Wing of the Presidency on Friday, the president said that the elimination of 24 terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khwarij reflects the professionalism, determination, and sacrifices of the security forces.

He said that those who target innocent civilians and law enforcement agencies deserve no leniency.

The president added that the nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its security forces and law enforcement agencies.

Timely and effective operations: PM  

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif pays tribute to the security forces and law enforcement agencies for killing 24 terrorists of the Indian-backed Fitna al-Khwarij during successful intelligence-based operations in Bannu and adjoining areas.

"The security forces' timely and effective operations against those responsible for the recent terrorist attacks, particularly the cowardly attacks targeting police personnel and innocent civilians in Bannu, are commendable," the prime minister said.

"The entire nation stands with our brave personnel," the prime minister said.

"The complete eradication of the scourge of terrorism and its facilitators is the government's top priority," the prime minister said.

"The nefarious designs of terrorist elements operating under Indian patronage will be thwarted at all costs, and everyone involved in such cowardly attacks will be brought to justice," the prime minister said.
