ISLAMABAD: Pakistan military, in an operation conducted on 21 April in the northwest of the country, killed 22 terrorists, said a press release issued by the military&rsquo;s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday. &ldquo;On 21 April 2026, a joint intelligence-based operation was conducted by security forces and law enforcement agencies in Khyber District on reported presence of khwarij (terrorists).&rdquo; During the conduct of the operation, after intense exchange of fire and skillful engagements by forces, 22 terrorists, belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna-al-Khwarij, were killed, the press release said. &ldquo;Due to cowardice and fear of getting apprehended alive, terrorists resorted to indiscriminate firing, which resulted in martyrdom of a ten years old innocent child,&rdquo; the statement added. &ldquo;Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from killed Indian-sponsored terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area.&rdquo; Sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area as relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision &ldquo;Azm e Istehkam&rdquo; (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country and such sacrifice of our innocent civilians further strengthen our resolve, the press release said.

22 Indian-sponsored terrorists killed in Khyber operation: Pakistan military 

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan security forces killed two terrorists, including a wanted ring leader and a suicide bomber, during an intelligence-based operation in Bannu District, the military&rsquo;s media wing said on Monday. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted on April 19 after reports about the presence of terrorists belonging to what it described as the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/security-forces-kill-34-terrorists-in-kp-and-balochistan-operations-army" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">Indian-sponsored Fitna-al-Khwarij</a>. During an intense exchange of fire, security forces killed the ring leader, Waheedullah alias Mukhtiar, along with a suicide bomber. The military said a suicide jacket, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed terrorists. Waheedullah was on the most-wanted list for his involvement in several terrorist attacks, including the killing of security personnel and civilians. ISPR said he was also the main handler of the suicide bomber involved in the February 21 attack in Bannu that led to the martyrdom of Lieutenant Colonel Gul Faraz. The military described the latest operation as revenge for the &ldquo;heinous act&rdquo; and said the main perpetrator had been brought to justice. It added that the timely action by security forces averted a major catastrophe. A sanitization operation is underway to clear the area of any remaining terrorists. The military said Pakistan&rsquo;s security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue counter-terrorism operations under the &ldquo;Azm-e-Istehkam&rdquo; campaign to eliminate what it called foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has conducted precision airstrikes on seven terrorist camps and hideouts along the Pakistan&ndash;Afghanistan border in response to a series of suicide bombings inside the country, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Pakistan said early Sunday. In an official statement, the ministry said the strikes targeted camps linked to Fitna al Khwarij, Pakistan&rsquo;s term for Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, and Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), groups Islamabad says were responsible for recent attacks on Pakistani soil. The ministry said the operations were launched after authorities established the involvement of these groups in multiple suicide bombings, including the attack on an imambargah in Islamabad, as well as incidents in the northwestern districts of Bajaur and Bannu during the holy month of Ramadan. A further suicide bombing in Bannu earlier this week heightened security concerns, officials said. According to the ministry, responsibility for the attacks was claimed by Afghanistan-based elements of Fitna al Khwarij and ISKP, with investigations linking the attackers to leadership and handlers operating from across the border. &ldquo;Pakistan has always strived for maintaining peace and stability in the region, but at the same time the safety and security of our citizens remains our top priority,&rdquo; the ministry said. According to the ministry, &ldquo;despite repeated discussions, the Afghan side did not undertake substantive action, leaving Pakistan with no option but to take intelligence-based military measures to protect its citizens and national security.&rdquo; The ministry described the strikes as a &ldquo;retributive response,&rdquo; adding that the intelligence-based operations were carried out with precision and accuracy to disrupt militant infrastructure and prevent further attacks. Pakistan reiterated its demand that Afghanistan&rsquo;s interim government fulfil its obligations to ensure its soil is not used for terrorism against other countries, including commitments under the Doha Agreement.
