ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces killed 13 terrorists in two intelligence-based operations in the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted on Monday, March 30, in Kyber and Bannu districts.

In the first operation in the Bara area of Khyber, 10 terrorists were killed after an intense exchange of fire. Three more terrorists were neutralized in a separate operation in Bannu, the statement added.

Security forces have launched sanitization operations to clear the areas of any remaining terrorists.

The military said the operations are part of an ongoing counter-terrorism campaign aimed at eliminating foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised security for the successful operations. “Our security forces are like a solid wall against terrorism to protect the country.”

He said the government is determined to eliminate terrorism from the country.
