ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's security forces have killed 12 terrorists of Fitna al Hindustan in an intelligence-led operation in Kalat district of southwestern Balochistan on Wednesday, the military’s media wing reported Friday.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation targeted a terrorist hideout that military forces identified, monitored, and destroyed through "surgical action."
Personnel also destroyed caches of ammunition and improvised explosive devices found at the site.
“Sanitization operations are continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining operatives linked to the group,” the ISPR said.
Fitna al Hindustan refers to terrorist organizations that receive direct support and sponsorship from India as part of efforts to destabilize Pakistan. The groups have conducted operations primarily in Balochistan, where terrorist attacks targeted security forces, civilians, and local infrastructure.
The operation is part of "Azm e Istehkam,” a counterterrorism campaign approved by Pakistan's Federal Apex Committee on its National Action Plan. Security forces and law enforcement agencies are conducting the campaign to combat foreign-sponsored terrorism.
Counterterrorism operations in Balochistan have intensified in recent years as the military broadens its campaign against terrorist groups.
PM praises security force
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday praised Pakistan’s security forces for the operation in Kalat district, commending their professionalism and courage after.
PM Sharif said the government would continue its campaign against terrorism until the threat is eliminated. He vowed that terrorists would not be allowed to undermine peace in Balochistan.
He also said the Pakistani public stood behind the armed forces in their efforts to protect the country.
