ISLAMABAD: India&rsquo;s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Friday expressed dismay over what she described as the &ldquo;latest blow&rdquo; against Muslims, following the discovery that thousands of &quot;waqf&quot; properties are missing from the government&#39;s newly-launched UMEED portal. A &quot;waqf&quot; property is an endowment made by a Muslim for charitable or religious purposes, such as to build mosques, schools, or hospitals. It cannot be sold, gifted, or inherited. The Union Ministry of Minority Affairs had launched the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development Act, 1995 (UMEED) Central Portal on June 6, according to an Indian media report. The portal allows real-time uploading, verification, and monitoring of Waqf properties, with a six-month completion window that ended on Dec. 6. Taking to X, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir said the missing entries raised serious questions about the transparency and protection of waqf assets. Drop in Waqf properties&nbsp;The data reveals that Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir had 32,533 registered properties on December 9, 2024, which dropped to 25,293 by December 7 this year. Uttar Pradesh recorded the largest decrease, with Sunni Waqf properties falling from 217,161 to 86,345 during the same period. The All India Muslim Waqf Board has requested an extension from the government to register properties on the UMEED portal, according to the report. Controversial new act&nbsp;The new Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, which came into force in April 2025 after heated debates in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, faced opposition from several parties and Muslim bodies. In September, the Supreme Court declined to suspend the act entirely but put on hold certain provisions, including empowering district collectors to determine property ownership and restricting the creation of waqf deeds to lawful Muslim property owners of at least five years&rsquo; standing, pending further judicial scrutiny. The PDP chief&rsquo;s concerns underscore rising anxiety over the management and safeguarding of waqf properties in India.

Government-linked bias is highlighted in 18 cases (8.6%) classified as &quot;State-Sponsored Discriminatory Practices&quot;, which included discriminatory policies, evictions, and administrative measures that disproportionately affected minority groups. &lsquo;Attack on religious spaces&rsquo;Law enforcement&rsquo;s role appears in 13 cases (6.2%) of &quot;Police Atrocities&quot;, involving custodial violence, false implications, biased investigations, or failure to act during communal disturbances. Attacks on sacred places are also noted: 10 cases (4.8%) of &quot;Attack on Religious Spaces&quot;, ranging from vandalism and arson to encroachment on mosques, madrasas, shrines, and other places of worship. Finally, the report documents eight cases (3.8%) of &quot;Acts of Violence&quot;, including physical assaults, mob attacks, and lynchings, and other direct bodily harm motivated by religious or communal hostility. Together, these categories paint a sobering picture of the different forms of hate-driven incidents affecting communities across India as of late 2025.&nbsp;Minorities are &#39;safe&rsquo;&nbsp;India&#39;s Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, has in the past asserted that minorities of India are safe because the majority is entirely secular.&nbsp; According to Indian media, the minister had said even a minuscule minority community like the Parsis was safe in India. Human Rights Watch&nbsp;According to Human Rights Watch&#39;s World Report 2025, the authorities in India &quot;continued to discriminate against members of minority communities.&quot; &quot;Officials failed to take adequate action against BJP supporters responsible for attacks, and instead targeted victims of the violence, including through unlawful demolitions of Muslim homes and properties,&quot; it says.

The report details acts of hate, discrimination, media distortion, state bias, police abuses, attacks on religious sites, and violence, highlighting widespread hostility toward minority communities.

Report documents over 200 minority hate crimes across India during November 2025

ISLAMABAD: India&rsquo;s National Intelligence Agency &ldquo;conducted searches&rdquo; in Muslim-majority Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Uttar Pradesh as part of its investigations in the Nov. 10 Delhi blast case.&nbsp; On Nov. 20, the NIA announced the arrest of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/indias-nia-arrests-four-more-muslims-in-delhi-blast-case" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">four more Muslims,</a>&nbsp;taking the total to six. According to a press release shared on the social media platform X on Dec. 1, the NIA claimed, &ldquo;Various digital devices and other incriminating materials were seized during the searches conducted at the premises of several accused and suspects in the two states.&rdquo; &ldquo;A total of eight locations were searched in the districts of Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama and Awantipora of J&amp;K, and one location in Lucknow (UP),&rdquo; the statement said. &lsquo;Extensive searches&rsquo;&nbsp;According to the press release, the &ldquo;NIA had earlier, on 26th and 27th November, conducted extensive searches at the premises of the prime accused, Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganie and Dr Shaheen Saeed, in the Al Falah University complex and other places in Faridabad (Haryana).&rdquo; The NIA claims, &ldquo;A huge quantity of cash, foreign currency, gold and other incriminating materials were seized during those searches, and the same are being minutely examined to unravel the conspiracy that culminated in the bombing.&rdquo; The statement said that the &ldquo;agency has arrested 07 key accused so far in the case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI. Pakistan MoFA&rsquo;s statementOn media queries regarding the wave of arbitrary arrests and detention of Kashmiri people from IIOJK after the bomb blast incident in New Delhi and on the human rights situation in IIOJK, Pakistan&rsquo;s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement on Nov. 21, said that&nbsp;Pakistan remains gravely concerned about the persistent and severe human rights situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. &ldquo;The prevailing policies, marked by widespread detentions, arbitrary arrests, and extensive restrictions on fundamental freedoms, continue to amount to collective punishment of the occupied Kashmiri population,&rdquo; the statement said. &lsquo;Profiling Kashmiri youth&rsquo;Reports of profiling Kashmiri youth on the basis of their identity and faith further heighten these concerns, it said. The statement further said, &ldquo;Thousands of Kashmiri youth remain missing, while many genuine political representatives of the Kashmiri people remain in detention.&rdquo; &ldquo;Pakistan calls upon the international community, including the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, to take full cognizance of the grave human rights situation in IIOJK,&rdquo; it urged.
