The dispute relates to engine lease payments overdue since January 2022 and maintenance charges dating back to November 2020. Default notices were issued in July 2022, with the engines subsequently repossessed between late 2022 and mid-2023. Industry estimates cited in the draft place the award at $7,959,235, excluding interest and legal costs, meaning the final liability could increase further. The ruling represents another setback for the cash-strapped airline, which has been grappling with mounting financial pressure. It also risks denting India&rsquo;s efforts to position itself as a reliable destination for global investment. While formally a commercial dispute, the optics of a prominent Indian airline being ordered by a foreign court to settle unpaid obligations are difficult to ignore. Muslims, who make up a quarter of the state&#39;s population, were disproportionately flagged for this extra scrutiny, according to at least two independent analyses of Election Commission data. Of those flagged, about 2.7 million were finally found to be ineligible to vote, the Election Commission&#39;s data released earlier this week, raising the total number of exclusions to over nine million -- or roughly 12 percent of the electorate. The 2.7 million left out after the second phase can still appeal their exclusion. But with the tribunals set up to adjudicate such matters still not fully operational, a decision is unlikely before voting begins on April 23.

Maktoob also said activist Usman Kattappana, who criticised those remarks, was himself booked by police.&nbsp; With Kerala already in election mode ahead of April 9 polling, Bhagavathy warned that Islamophobic campaigns could see a spike during the campaign period.&nbsp;That has raised fresh concerns about communal rhetoric and weak enforcement in a state often seen as more socially progressive than much of India.&nbsp;

The Quint said Shah acknowledged at the 2023 World Hindu Congress that The Kerala Story could not have been made without RSS &ldquo;guidance and support.&rdquo; The report said he described the RSS as the film&rsquo;s &ldquo;guardian angels.&rdquo;&nbsp;Political endorsement has also come from the top. Reuters reported that Indian PM Narendra Modi publicly praised The Kashmir Files in 2022. BJP-ruled states then moved to make the film tax-free, helping widen its reach.&nbsp;A similar pattern was seen with The Kerala Story and Article 370. NDTV reported that BJP governments in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh made The Kerala Story tax-free. NDTV also reported that the BJP government in Chhattisgarh made Article 370 tax-free.&nbsp; Taken together, the reporting suggests these films are not just cultural products. They are increasingly part of a political ecosystem where cinema, ideology, and state patronage intersect.
