ISLAMABAD: Sega announced the upcoming release of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, a combined package featuring a comprehensive remake of the 2009 Yakuza 3, alongside a new narrative expansion centered on the character Yoshitaka Mine.
The game will be available on February 12, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox series X|S and PC.
The latest entry in the long-running Yakuza franchise marks a significant update. The entire game was rebuilt using Sega’s Dragon Engine to deliver improved graphics, smoother controls and more immersive environment.
Set across Okinawa and Tokyo, the remake modernises the original's gameplay while expanding story content and side quests.
Players control Kazuma Kiryu, who can now seamlessly switch between two fighting styles: the classic “Dragon of Dojima: Kiwami” style, noted for its powerful close-range combat, and the new “Ryukyu Style,” which incorporates traditional Okinawan martial arts with varied weapons and combo techniques.
The new companion story, Dark Ties, puts the spotlight on Yoshitaka Mine, a key antagonist from the original game. For the first time, players get to experience Mine’s story and combat style, which features shoot boxing-inspired moves and a special “Dark Awakening” mode that improves his combat abilities.
The expansion also introduces new gameplay elements, including an underground fight club mode called “Hell’s Arena,” with different challenges and survival conditions.
Beyond the main plotlines, the remake retains the series trademark blend of drama and offbeat side content, such as mini-games and sub-stories, enriching player experience with varied activities that explore the social fabric of the game’s fictional settings.
A Digital Deluxe Edition was also announced, offering additional character costumes, music packs, and phone customisation options. Early purchasers will receive extra downloadable content including the popular character Ichiban Kasuga joining the Ryukyu Gal Gang.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties represents a return to the franchise’s darker, more grounded roots.
