ISLAMABAD: World leaders, including the UN chief, prime minister of UK, president of Türkiye and others, praised Pakistan’s mediation efforts after the announcement of a US-Iran peace deal.
UN secretary general appreciates Pakistan
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, while welcoming the US-Iran peace deal, stated, “My deep appreciation goes to Pakistan, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and other regional countries, for the constructive role played in supporting the negotiations that led to the peace deal.”
He also said that the deal, “represents a critical step towards the peaceful settlement of the conflict.”
Starmer congratulates Pakistan
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, while warmly welcoming the agreement between US and Iran, congratulated, “President Trump and the mediators from Pakistan, Qatar and elsewhere who have contributed to this breakthrough.”
“We have long urged de-escalation and this is the progress we had hoped to see,” Starmer said.
Qatar commends Pakistan’s constructive role
Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi welcomed the understanding reached between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He also commended the “constructive efforts of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in facilitating this process, alongside the support of regional and international partners.”
Erdogan thanks Pakistan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan extended his thanks to Pakistan for “its exceptional mediation efforts”.
He said, “I view the agreement reached between the United States and Iran as an important development for establishing peace and tranquility in our region, and I welcome it with satisfaction.”
Australia commends Pakistan efforts
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, while welcoming the agreement by the US and Iran, commended the efforts of Pakistan and other mediating countries.
She said, Australia will continue to engage with international partners to promote peace, stability and security in the Middle East.
