Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif early on Wednesday morning appealed US President Donald Trump to extend the deadline for the US-Israeli war on Iran by two weeks.
In a post on X, the PM Sharif said that “diplomatic efforts for peaceful settlement of the ongoing war in the Middle East are progressing steadily, strongly and powerfully with the potential to lead to substantive results in near future.”
The prime minister said that diplomacy should be allowed to run its course, requesting the US president for an extension.
The premier, in his tweet, also called on Iran “to open Strait of Hormuz for a corresponding period of two weeks as a goodwill gesture.”
The prime minister also urged all parties to observe a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to “allow diplomacy to achieve conclusive termination of war, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region.”

Israel military says completed forward deployment in south Lebanon

Donald Trump's "arrogant rhetoric" on the war in the Middle East is not hindering Iran's soldiers, Tehran's army said, after the US president threatened to raze Iran's infrastructure.
"The rude, arrogant rhetoric and baseless threats of the delusional US president [...] have no effect on the continuation of the offensive and crushing operations of the warriors of Islam against the American and Zionist enemies," said a spokesman for the army's Khatam Al-Anbiya central command cited by the national broadcaster.

A second Philippine national has been killed in the Middle East war after a missile struck a residential building in northern Israel, according to Manila's foreign affairs department.
The woman was killed in the port city of Haifa on Sunday, "alongside her Israeli husband and elderly parents-in-law", the department said.
Israeli rescue services said Monday that the bodies of four people had been recovered from the rubble of a residential building in the city, after it was struck by an Iranian missile the previous day.
US military says more than 13,000 ‘targets struck’ in war on Iran

US Central Command (CENTCOM), which is responsible for US military operations in the Middle East and is leading the attacks on Iran, said its forces have attacked more than 13,000 Iranian targets, Al Jazeera reported.
In a post shared on social media, CENTCOM also said that more than 155 Iranian vessels have been damaged or destroyed, noting that US nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines are taking part in Operation Epic Fury, as well as a fleet of aircraft ranging from F-35 stealth fighter jets to B-52 bombers.

The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) says its aid workers are carrying out a “relief and rescue” mission in the Iranian capital after another US-Israeli air strike.
In a post on X, the IRCS said that another residential area was “targeted” by the latest strike.
A video clip posted alongside the statement on X showed rescue workers working through the rubble of collapsed buildings and assisting injured residents after the strike.
UN says more than 1.1 million people displaced in Lebanon

UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric has said that the number of men, women and children registered as displaced in Lebanon has now reached 1.1 million, close to one-fifth of the country’s population.
