ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Malaysia signed six accords on Monday to deepen cooperation in the fields of education, halal certification, tourism, and anti‑corruption.
According to an official statement, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim exchanged the pre-signed documents at a ceremony held at Perdana Putrathe Complex. Both the prime ministers also spoke at a joint news conference.
Through the accords, Pakistan and Malaysia agreed to train their diplomats, promote higher education, and cooperate in tourism and halal standards.
They also signed documents to collaborate against corruption and to support small and medium-sized enterprises.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also invited Malaysian companies to invest in Pakistan’s growing economy, calling it a promising destination in the region.
The prime minister also addressed the Pakistan–Malaysia Business and Investment Conference in Kuala Lumpur.
He said Pakistan's markets offer immense business opportunities as it has a skilled, youthful workforce, and a rapidly expanding market.
PM Sharif expressed gratitude to PM Ibrahim for joining the forum and reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening business-to-business ties.
PM Ibrahim announced a $200 million quota for Pakistani meat exports.
PM Sharif inspected a guard of honor at the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office. He also launched the Urdu translation of PM Ibrahim’s book “Script.”
