ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday praised Pakistani stuntman Sultan Muhammad Khan, better known as “Sultan Golden,” after he drove one mile in reverse in 57 seconds, creating a new world record, according to APP.
The stunt, described as a world record, was performed in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, and was witnessed by senior civil and military officials, including Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, according to media reports.
“Sultan Golden has made Pakistan proud across the world; the entire nation is proud of him,” PM Sharif said in an official statement from his office.
He added that the government is committed to providing facilities in all areas of sports.
President Zardari also congratulated the stuntman, saying the achievement reflected the skill, courage, and dedication of Pakistanis and helped strengthen the country’s positive image globally, according to a statement posted on his official X account.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi also congratulated Sultan Golden on the achievement, calling it a proud moment for Pakistan and the province.
Sultan Golden’s time is 18 seconds faster than the existing Guinness World Records benchmark of 1 minute and 15.18 seconds, set in 2022 by American stuntman Scot Burner in Bowling Green, Kentucky, according to official records.
In the late 1980s, Khan earned international fame for introducing reverse motorcar jumping to the world.
The golden man has set multiple world records, including a reverse jump of 150 feet over 15 cars.
In 1987, he entered the Guinness Book of World Records after completing a 249-foot motorbike ramp jump in Lahore.
