ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam on Wednesday to discuss the ongoing regional situation and efforts to maintain peace and stability, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

According to a statement issued by the PMO, the meeting focused on recent regional developments and diplomatic efforts to promote peace through dialogue and engagement.

The meeting comes hours after US President Donald Trump extended the ceasefire at the request of the Pakistani leadership.

Earlier, PM Sharif thanked the US president for extending the ceasefire and hoped that both parties would maintain it and conclude the peace talks in Islamabad.

Pakistan has repeatedly stressed the importance of dialogue and the peaceful resolution of disputes, particularly amid recent tensions involving Iran and broader regional security concerns.

Islamabad has also been actively engaged in diplomatic outreach with friendly countries, emphasizing that negotiations and restraint remain essential for lasting peace and stability in the region.
