Pakistan, Egypt’s interior ministries agree to enhance security cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Interior ministries of Pakistan and Egypt have agreed to enhance cooperation and promote collaboration in the areas of security, counterterrorism and counter-narcotics.


Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State Talal Chaudhry met with a delegation from Egypt’s Ministry of Interior, according to a series of posts on X on Saturday by Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior.

During the meeting, it was agreed to enhance cooperation between the interior ministries of both countries.


Discussions were held on promoting collaboration in the fields of security, counterterrorism, counter-narcotics, cybercrime, and safe city projects.


It was decided to strengthen cooperation for joint training of officers between the National Police Academy (NPA) and the Egyptian Police Academy.

 

New avenues of bilateral cooperation

Naqvi said the Egyptian delegation’s visit would help explore new avenues of bilateral cooperation, and that practical steps would be taken to strengthen relations with Egypt.


He further stated that a Pakistani delegation would soon visit Egypt to explore new opportunities for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.


He added that enhanced cooperation between the interior ministries of both countries would strengthen bilateral relations.


Chaudhry said there are extensive opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in counterterrorism, counter-narcotics, and internal security.


The Egyptian delegation described their visits to the Anti-Narcotics Force, NPA, and various other institutions as highly beneficial.


The Egyptian delegation noted that both countries can benefit from each other’s experiences in various sectors.


Naqvi also conveyed his best wishes for his Egyptian counterpart.


The interior secretary and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
