ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to enhance cooperation in police training, exchange programs, cybersecurity and efforts to combat cybercrime and online fraud during a meeting held on the sidelines of the United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS) 2026, Pakistan's Permanent Mission to the United Nations said in a statement.
In a post on X, the mission said the meeting was held between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Bangladesh's Minister of Home Affairs Salahuddin Ahmed in New York.
The two ministers discussed areas of mutual interest and exchanged views on regional developments, including US-Iran tensions and the evolving situation in the Middle East.
Ahmed appreciated Pakistan's "constructive role in promoting regional peace," according to the statement. At the same time, Naqvi said Pakistan had played an "unforgettable role for peace" under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Chief od Defense Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, while stressing the need for both countries to explore new opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations.
"Pakistan, by the grace of Almighty Allah, played an unforgettable role for peace under the leadership of the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal," Naqvi said.
He added that "both countries should seize new opportunities to further strengthen their bilateral ties."
The meeting came as the two countries seek to expand cooperation in security and law enforcement, with discussions focusing on capacity building, technology and institutional exchanges.
