ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Italy marked 125 years of friendship, cooperation, and shared achievements during a high-level conference at the Chamber of Deputies in Rome on Tuesday.
“125 years of friendship, cooperation and shared achievements between Italy and Pakistan,” the Pakistan Embassy in Italy said in a post on X.
The conference highlighted the historic partnership between Italy and Pakistan, with a focus on scientific research, environmental protection, mountaineering, sustainable development, and cultural exchange.
The event brought together institutional representatives, scientists, diplomats, entrepreneurs, athletes, explorers, and mountaineers to celebrate the long-standing relationship between the two countries and discuss future opportunities for collaboration.
Discussions also covered climate change, glaciers, water security, innovation, diplomacy, and international cooperation.
The mountain K2 was recognized as a powerful symbol of challenge, cooperation, and friendship between the two nations.
A special moment of the event took place at the Matteotti Hall of the Chamber of Deputies, where the ambassador of Pakistan to Italy, Ali Javed, presented the president of EvK2CNR, Agostino Da Polenza, with the prestigious Tamgha-e-Pakistan (Medal of Pakistan).
The award was presented in recognition of Da Polenza’s longstanding commitment to strengthening relations, cooperation, and mutual understanding between Italy and Pakistan.
The honor celebrates decades of collaboration and friendship between the two countries and underscores the important role of scientific, cultural, and mountain cooperation in bringing people and nations closer together.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to further strengthening ties and expanding cooperation between Italy and Pakistan in the years ahead.
