SHUSHA, Azerbaijan: Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev has said no one except Pakistan can help resolve the US-Iran issue and expressed confidence that Pakistan will once again succeed in helping bring peace.
Replying to Pakistan TV head’s question, the Azerbaijani president praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, saying they were fully committed to this issue.
He added that in light of the recent developments and renewed tensions, he was confident they would once again do their utmost to help facilitate cessation of hostilities.
The Azerbaijani president said he had personally called Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to congratulate him on Pakistan’s mediation efforts, which had earned the country international respect.
He described Pakistan as the only country that had accepted the responsibility of mediating and successfully bringing the concerned parties closer.
“My message is best wishes and to continue these tremendous efforts,” Aliyev said.
