ISLAMABAD: British singer Lola Young has appealed to online critics to give her a “day off” as she manages ongoing health challenges.
In a message posted to Instagram on Monday, the 24-year-old apologised for having to cancel a performance, saying, “I love this job and I never take my commitments and audience for granted. [So,] I’m sorry to those who will be disappointed by this. I hope you’ll all give me another chance in the future.”
While she thanked her supporters, the 24-year-old also directly addressed online haters. She stated, “people that love to be mean, [please] give me a day off.”

Young collapsed mid-song while performing at the All Things Go Music Festival in New York City on 27 September. She had told the audience beforehand that she had experienced a “tricky couple of days,” but decided to continue, saying life “can throw you lemons, and you just gotta make lemonade.”
Medical staff took her backstage after she collapsed.
Her manager confirmed the cancellation of a Washington DC show the previous day was due to a “sensitive matter” related to her mental health.
The British singer has been open about living with schizoaffective disorder, diagnosed at 17, and past struggles with substance dependency. She apologised to fans for the cancelled gig but also highlighted the impact of harsh online comments on her well-being.
She released her third album, I'm Only F------ Myself, on 19 September and is scheduled to begin a world tour in Manchester on 6 October.
