ISLAMABAD: "Good Hang With Amy Poehler" won the first-ever Golden Globe for Best Podcast for its host just 10 months after it first premiered.

According to a statement released by the Golden Globes, the category debut marks the Golden Globes' latest expansion beyond traditional film and television, recognizing podcasting's growing dominance in entertainment media.

"I know I'm new to this game. I have great respect for this form," American actress and comedian Amy Poehler said during her acceptance speech.

She then quipped about celebrity saturation in podcasting: "I'm big fans of all of you – except for NPR! Just a bunch of celebs phoning it in. Try harder!"

The "Saturday Night Live" star launched "Good Hang" through Paper Kite Productions and The Ringer in March 2024. Early episodes featured comedy peers Martin Short, Ike Barinholtz, and Quinta Brunson. It also featured interviews with Tina Fey and Rashida Jones.

Poehler received the award from presenter Snoop Dogg, who teased his own potential podcast ambitions: "Y'all better hope I never get in the game."

According to the Globes, the win represents a full-circle moment for Poehler at the awards. She earned three acting nominations for "Parks and Recreation" and co-hosted the ceremony four times with Fey.

Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser introduced the category with a pre-recorded sketch parodying Nicole Kidman's AMC Theatres preroll advertisement.

"Good Hang With Amy Poehler" competed against five other shows: "Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard," "Call Her Daddy," "Smartless," "The Mel Robbins Podcast," and "Up First." The nominees were selected from 25 eligible podcasts determined by Globes data partner Luminate, according to the Golden Globes.

The Best Podcast category was introduced in 2024, following the introduction of Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television in 2024.
