TOKYO: A 6.7-magnitude quake took place off northern Japan on Friday, the weather office said, days after a 7.5-level tremor in the same region injured at least 50 people. Japan lifted a tsunami advisory, the weather office showed on its website. The Japan Meteorological Agency had warned that tsunami waves of up to one metre (three feet) could hit the northern Pacific coastline.

ISLAMABAD: A powerful magnitude-7.4 earthquake struck off the southern Philippines on Friday, killing at least three people and triggering regional tsunami warnings that were later lifted, AFP reported. The quake hit about 20 kilometers (12 miles away) from Manay in the Mindanao region at 9:43 am (0143 GMT), the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.
