TURIN: Jannik Sinner continued his mastery over Alex de Minaur on Saturday with a straight-sets win to reach the ATP Finals championship match for the third year in a row. Sinner broke late in the first set and then pulled away from De Minaur to complete a 7-5, 6-2 win &mdash; his 13th in as many meetings with the Australian. The Italian world number two has yet to drop a service game en route to the final but will likely have a tougher test in the final against top seed Carlos Alcaraz, who is favourite to beat Felix Auger-Aliassime in Saturday&#39;s other semifinal. &ldquo;Honestly every matchup (with Alcaraz) is different. We saw it in Rome and Paris, even if it is the same surface (clay), it can change,&rdquo; said Sinner, who lost both of those finals before beating his Spanish rival to win Wimbledon. &ldquo;Another final, it has been an amazing year for me. I am looking forward to tomorrow&hellip; also to see for me where my level really is, but at the same time it is great before the offseason to have this matchup. &ldquo;He still has a match to go against Felix&hellip; He loves to play indoors, as we know. The 24-year-old Sinner has not dropped a set at the ATP Finals since losing the 2023 final to Novak Djokovic, while De Minaur ends his year with a more upbeat mood than the one he had after losing to Lorenzo Musetti in the group stage. Sinner surged 4-0 ahead in the second set before wrapping up his ninth straight win at the tournament, becoming the youngest player since Lleyton Hewitt in 2004 to reach three finals at the season-ending event. If Sinner faces Alcaraz in the final, it will be their sixth meeting of the season. OSAKA: Canada&#39;s Leylah Fernandez won her second title of the year after beating Czech teenager Tereza Valentova 6-0, 5-7, 6-3 in the Japan Open final on Sunday. Fernandez, the world number 27, followed up her victory at the DC Open in Washington in July with another tournament win after seeing off qualifier Valentova in Osaka. It was the fifth title of the 23-year-old Fernandez&#39;s career and the first time she has won twice in the same year. Fernandez, playing with heavy strapping on her right thigh, cruised to the first set against her 18-year-old opponent, who is ranked 78 in the world and was appearing in her first WTA final. Valentova looked shell-shocked at the changeover before the second set but she came out swinging and levelled the match. Fernandez regained the upper hand in the third set, sealing victory when her opponent hit a service return into the net. The Japan Open&#39;s top seed, former world number one Naomi Osaka, pulled out ahead of her quarter-final after failing to recover from a leg injury. The 38-year-old Djokovic has struggled in the hot and humid conditions in Shanghai, vomiting during previous matches and needing medical attention when he slumped to the ground in exhaustion after being taken to a third set by Jaume Munar in the previous round. The only major blip against Bergs was being broken when he led 5-4 in the second set, before finally converting his third match point. &ldquo;I should have closed out the match at 5-4,&rdquo; Djokovic said. &quot;Very challenging conditions these days for all the players, and I was just trying to stay alive on the court.
