ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia’s new national carrier, Riyadh Air, officially commenced its operations in Pakistan with the arrival of its inaugural flight RX-660 from Riyadh at Islamabad International Airport on Friday, according to the Pakistan Airport Authority.

“The flight arrived at 07:42 p.m. with 69 passengers and was received with a ceremonial water salute as it taxied towards the terminal, marking Riyadh Air’s first-ever arrival in Pakistan,” the statement added.

Speaking on the occasion, the Saudi Ambassador Nawaf Bin Said Al-Malki highlighted the significance of Riyadh Air’s inaugural service in further “strengthening the longstanding relations” and air connectivity between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

“DG Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed welcomed the commencement of Riyadh Air’s operations and highlighted the importance of the new airlink in enhancing connectivity, facilitating passenger movement and promoting greater cooperation in the aviation sector,” the statement said.

Riyadh Air’s officials highlighted the airline’s future expansion plans and potential for further growth in Pakistan.

“Riyadh Air is expected to operate seven flights per week between Riyadh and Islamabad, providing an additional direct air link between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia,” it added.

“Following the inauguration ceremony, flight RX-660 departed Islamabad International Airport at 09:56 p.m. with 272 passengers.”

The commencement of Riyadh Air’s operations marks an important milestone in Pakistan-Saudi Arabia air connectivity and represents a positive development for bilateral relations and the aviation sector.

The ceremony was graced by the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Nawaf Bin Said Al-Malki, as the Chief Guest, and was attended by Director General PAA, Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed, senior government officials, and senior management of Riyadh Air.
