ISLAMABAD: The Indian National Congress (INC) on Thursday accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha of presiding over &quot;jungle raj&quot; after a railway police constable was allegedly beaten to death by a mob in the eastern Indian state. In a post on X, Congress said railway police constable Soumya Ranjan was attacked while riding a motorcycle with a friend before being tied up and beaten by a crowd. &quot;Their hands and feet were tied, and the goons, disguised as a crowd, beat them until he died,&quot; the post said. Congress said that police personnel present at the scene &quot;just stood there, watching the spectacle&quot; despite the constable pleading for his life. &quot;This incident is a stain on society, with no place for it in a civilized community,&quot; the opposition party said. &quot;The BJP government has established jungle raj in Odisha as well. The entire system is running according to the whims of goons and criminals,&rdquo; Congress said, adding that Odisha, &quot;once known for its peace, has now fallen prey to anarchy and violence&quot;. Congress also accused the BJP of promoting a &quot;violent model&quot; for political gain and claimed ordinary citizens were becoming victims of rising unrest. The party demanded strict action against those responsible for the killing, but alleged there was &quot;little hope&quot; of accountability because &quot;the goons in the guise of a crowd have the support of the BJP government.&quot;
