ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Thursday reaffirmed their commitment to work together for regional peace and stability as tensions continue to mount across the Middle East following the ongoing war involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a restricted meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah, where the two leaders reviewed regional developments and bilateral cooperation. The premier was accompanied by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and&nbsp;Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces, Syed Asim Munir. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister&rsquo;s Office, the discussions focused on the evolving security situation in the region and the need for coordinated efforts to maintain stability. &ldquo;Both leaders had an in-depth exchange of views on the recent developments in the region and agreed to work together for regional peace and stability,&rdquo; the statement said. During the meeting, PM Sharif conveyed his best wishes to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia&rsquo;s longstanding support for Pakistan. The prime minister also reiterated Islamabad&rsquo;s solidarity with Riyadh amid the ongoing regional crisis. &ldquo;Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed full solidarity and support for Saudi Arabia in these challenging times,&rdquo; the PMO said, adding that he assured the crown prince that Pakistan &ldquo;would always stand firmly with Saudi Arabia and strive for their mutual desire for peace in the region.&rdquo; According to an update issued later by the Prime Minister&#39;s Office, PM Sharif travelled back to the country after completing his official visit to Saudi Arabia.&nbsp; The high-level talks come at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions following US and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets that triggered retaliatory attacks across the region, raising concerns about the security of Gulf states and key global energy routes. The meeting also reflects the deepening strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, formalized through a Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement signed during PM Sharif&rsquo;s 2025 visit to Riyadh. Under the agreement, both countries pledged closer defense cooperation and committed to supporting each other in safeguarding regional stability. Military-level coordination between the two allies has also intensified in recent days. CDF Munir visited Saudi Arabia earlier this month and met Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman, where both sides discussed the regional security environment and the need for joint efforts to address emerging threats. Officials said the meeting underscored continued strategic coordination between Islamabad and Riyadh as leaders across the region seek to prevent the conflict from expanding further.

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir called on Saudi Arabia&rsquo;s Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud during his official visit to the kingdom, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday.&nbsp;According to the military&#39;s media wing, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, including regional security dynamics, defense and military cooperation, strategic collaboration, and evolving geopolitical challenges. The meeting reaffirmed the deep-rooted, historic, and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.&nbsp;During the visit, Field Marshal Munir was conferred the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class, the Kingdom&rsquo;s highest national honor, under a royal decree issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.&nbsp;ISPR said the honor recognizes Field Marshal Asim Munir&rsquo;s distinguished military service and leadership, as well as his key role in strengthening defense cooperation, strategic coordination, and institutional linkages between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.&nbsp;The award also reflects his contributions to regional peace and stability, including sustained cooperation in counter-terrorism and security.&nbsp;The Saudi leadership appreciated the professionalism and strategic outlook of Pakistan&rsquo;s army chief, noting his commitment to further strengthening the longstanding brotherly ties between the two countries.&nbsp;Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Saudi leadership for the honor, describing it as a symbol of the enduring bonds between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He reaffirmed Pakistan&rsquo;s commitment to the security, stability, and prosperity of the Kingdom.&nbsp;The conferment of the medal underscores the depth of Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations and the shared resolve of both nations to further enhance strategic cooperation in pursuit of regional and global peace, ISPR added.

The ceremony took place during a reception hosted by Prince Khalid bin Salman at the Ministry of Defense in Riyadh.
