ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and King Abdullah II, ibn Al Hussein reaffirmed Pakistan&ndash;Jordan ties and exchanged top state honors during a high-level meeting and investiture ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Sunday, according to the Presidency.&nbsp;President Zardari received the Jordanian monarch, who is on a state visit to Pakistan, along with Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Huneiti.&nbsp;Senior Pakistani figures including First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Senator Sherry Rehman were also present.&nbsp;During the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed the &ldquo;longstanding and fraternal ties&rdquo; between the two nations and discussed the full spectrum of bilateral relations. They agreed on strengthening people-to-people exchanges and intensifying cooperation across political, economic and cultural sectors.&nbsp;Reviewing regional and international developments, the two sides placed particular emphasis on peace and stability in the Middle East. On the issue of Palestine, President Zardari and King Abdullah II noted their &ldquo;convergence of views&rdquo; and reiterated their shared stance on post-war Gaza.&nbsp;They &ldquo;rejected any displacement of Palestinians&rdquo; and underscored the need for a Two-State solution based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.&nbsp;King Abdullah II expressed pride in the &ldquo;deep-rooted ties&rdquo; between Jordan and Pakistan, reaffirming Amman&rsquo;s commitment to expanding cooperation &ldquo;across various sectors.&rdquo; Both leaders also agreed to maintain close coordination on bilateral, regional and global issues.&nbsp;Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister Climate Change Musadik Malik, senior foreign ministry officials and the ambassadors of both countries attended the meeting.&nbsp;A special investiture ceremony followed, during which President Zardari conferred Nishan-e-Pakistan, the country&rsquo;s highest civil award, on King Abdullah II. In a reciprocal gesture, the King awarded President Zardari the &ldquo;Wasam al-Nahda al-Mursaa,&rdquo; Order of the Renaissance, a distinction reserved for heads of state and eminent dignitaries.&nbsp;The ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, federal ministers and members of the diplomatic corps. A state banquet was later hosted in honor of the Jordanian monarch.

Later, the prime minister hosted a banquet in honor of the visiting monarch and his delegation.&nbsp;King Abdullah II arrived earlier in the day to a warm reception at Nur Khan Airbase, where President Asif Ali Zardari, PM Sharif, and senior cabinet members received him.&nbsp;The high-level Pakistani delegation present during the talks included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, Climate Change Minister Dr. Musaddiq Malik, and senior government officials.

Jordanian King, Pakistani PM deepen strategic cooperation in Islamabad talks 

ISLAMABAD: Jordan King Abdullah II arrived in Islamabad on Saturday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss political, economic and cultural cooperation. According to a statement by the Prime Minister&#39;s Office (PMO),&nbsp;King Abdullah II was presented a Guard of Honour by a contingent of Pakistan&rsquo;s armed forces at the Prime Minister&rsquo;s House. King Abdullah will meet with PM Sharif and discuss matters of mutual interest, the statement said. Later, delegation-level talks, aimed at expanding cooperation between the two countries, will follow, the statement added.&nbsp;The visit reflects the long-standing brotherly ties between Pakistan and Jordan and is expected to strengthen bilateral relations, said the statement.&nbsp;President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Climate Change Musaddiq Malik and Minister of State for Education Wajiha Qamar received the Jordanian monarch and his high-level delegation at Islamabad Airport.&nbsp;The king had lauded last month the Pakistani military&rsquo;s contributions to regional peace and security in a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir.

To discuss matters of mutual interest with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif; delegation-level talks to expand cooperation in several fields will be held as well

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan&#39;s ambassador to Jordan, Major General (Retd) Muhammad Ajmal Iqbal said Pakistan and Jordan are poised to deepen their diplomatic, defense and economic cooperation as King Abdullah II arrives in Islamabad tomorrow.&nbsp;&quot;Pakistan and Jordan share a relationship rooted in history, trust and religious affinity, dating back to 1948 when Jordan became one of the earliest states to recognize Pakistan&rsquo;s independence,&quot; said ambassador Ajmal Iqbal, in an exclusive interview with Pakistan TV.&nbsp;He noted that this foundation has consistently shaped cooperation across diplomacy, defense and people-to-people contact.&nbsp;He highlighted that both countries hold &ldquo;complete commonality of views&rdquo; on developments in Gaza and the wider Middle East. Pakistan and Jordan, he said, participated together in discussions in Doha and Turkey, maintaining aligned positions on achieving a just, rational, and lasting peace for Palestinians.&nbsp;&nbsp;He emphasized that every past visit of King Abdullah II resulted in increased cooperation and expects similar momentum this time. &ldquo;The leadership will identify areas where economic relations can be expanded,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;Discussing defense relations, Ambassador Iqbal referenced the recent 27 October 2025 meeting between Pakistan&rsquo;s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and King Abdullah II. He described the interaction as &ldquo;highly significant,&rdquo; noting that multiple one-on-one sessions focused on security cooperation and Pakistan&rsquo;s role in safeguarding its sovereignty. King Abdullah II also commended Pakistan&rsquo;s military professionalism.&nbsp;Ambassador Iqbal also commented on Pakistan&rsquo;s decision to confer its highest civilian award on King Abdullah II, calling it a symbol of &ldquo;deep affection and respect&rdquo; for the Jordanian royal family. He recalled that a similar honour was last extended to King Hussain in the early 1960s.&nbsp;As Islamabad welcomes the Jordanian King, officials anticipate renewed momentum across diplomacy, defense, trade and cultural exchange&mdash;ushering in a new phase of cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
