TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Wednesday that his country would &quot;not yield to excessive demands&quot; on its nuclear programme, after Tehran resumed talks with the United States.&nbsp;He also said Iran was ready for &quot;any verification&quot; of its nuclear program and insisted it was not seeking an atomic weapon.&nbsp;Iran and the United States resumed negotiations last week for the first time since the war with Israel last June, which saw the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/iran-warns-against-instability-after-us-strike-group-arrives" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">US conduct strikes</a>&nbsp;on nuclear sites in Iran.&nbsp;&quot;Our Iran will not yield in the face of aggression, but we are continuing dialogue with all our strength with neighbouring countries to establish peace and tranquillity in the region,&quot; Pezeshkian said.&nbsp;He was speaking at Azadi Square in the capital Tehran, to mark the 47th anniversary of Iran&#39;s Islamic revolution.&nbsp;&quot;Our country, Iran, will not yield to their excessive demands,&quot; he added.&nbsp;Iran wants the talks to remain centred purely on its nuclear programme, while the United States also wants the Islamic republic&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/netanyahu-to-push-trump-on-iran-missiles-in-white-house-talks" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">ballistic missile program</a>&nbsp;and its support for fighter groups in the region to be discussed.&nbsp;Iran insists its nuclear program is peaceful, though Western countries and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/netanyahu-to-discuss-iran-talks-with-trump-in-washington-wednesday" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">Israel believe</a>&nbsp;it is seeking to acquire a nuclear weapon.&nbsp;Every year, supporters of Iran&#39;s leadership turn out in force to mark the anniversary of the revolution that ousted the US-backed shah in 1979.&nbsp;At Azadi Square on Wednesday, an AFP correspondent saw a large security presence, bigger than in previous years.&nbsp;Veiled women waved the flag of the Islamic republic and carried pictures of Iran&#39;s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told his Egyptian counterpart on Saturday that Tehran was not seeking a conflict with the United States and any clash would do neither side any good.&nbsp;According to a statement from the Iranian presidency, Pezeshkian held a call with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, a Washington ally who has been invited to join US President Donald Trump&#39;s Board of Peace.&nbsp;&quot;The Islamic Republic of Iran has never sought, and in no way seeks,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/trump-says-iran-is-talking-to-us-well-see-if-we-can-do-something" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">war</a>&nbsp;and it is firmly convinced that a war would be in the interest of neither Iran, nor the United States, nor the region,&quot; he said.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan&rsquo;s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran&rsquo;s Supreme National Security Council, in Islamabad on Tuesday, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation amid a renewed phase of high-level engagement.&nbsp;According to a Foreign Office statement, the two neighbors &ldquo;reaffirmed commitment to deepening bilateral ties in diverse areas&rdquo; and agreed to enhance coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern.&nbsp;Iran&rsquo;s state news agency IRNA reported that Larijani is also scheduled to meet Pakistan&rsquo;s parliament speaker, prime minister and president later on Tuesday as part of his diplomatic engagements.&nbsp;Speaking to reporters upon his arrival on Monday night, Larijani said Pakistan &ldquo;plays a key role in the region&rdquo; and that stronger cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad &ldquo;helps calm and peace in the region.&rdquo;&nbsp;Iranian officials said his consultations in Islamabad will review progress on bilateral commitments, follow up on joint agreements and address regional developments and issues concerning the wider Islamic world.&nbsp;Larijani&rsquo;s visit follows a series of high-level exchanges between the two countries in recent months.&nbsp;In August, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian paid his first state visit to Pakistan since taking office, accompanied by Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and a senior ministerial delegation. The trip saw the signing of multiple memoranda of understanding and discussions aimed at boosting bilateral trade to $10 billion.&nbsp;In October, Naqvi visited Tehran for talks with President Pezeshkian focused on border security, counterterrorism and regional stability.&nbsp;In early November, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf travelled to Islamabad for discussions on parliamentary, security and economic cooperation.&nbsp;Larijani&rsquo;s ongoing visit marks the latest step in what officials on both sides describe as a renewed effort to consolidate political, security and economic ties.
