ISLAMABAD: Police are set to submit the charge sheet on Wednesday in the murder case of Sharif Osman bin Hadi, the leader of cultural group Inqilab Mancho and July Uprising frontline fighter, 26 days after his killing, state-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) reported.&nbsp;Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury confirmed the development on Monday, saying the investigation has reached its final stage.&nbsp;&ldquo;The charge sheet in the murder of Sharif Osman bin Hadi will be submitted on Jan. 7, 2026,&rdquo; he said, adding that the case would be transferred to a speedy trial tribunal to ensure justice within the tenure of the interim government.&nbsp;Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam earlier confirmed the submission date, noting that the investigation was nearing completion.&nbsp;&ldquo;So far, 11 people have been arrested in connection with the killing, and six of them have given confessional statements under Section 164 of the CrPC,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;The arrested suspects include the alleged mastermind Faisal Karim Masud&rsquo;s father, Humayun Kabir, mother, Hasi Begum, wife, Shaheda Parvin Samia, brother-in-law, Wahid Ahmed Shipu; and his alleged girlfriend, Maria Akter Lima.&nbsp;Other arrestees are Md Kabir, Nuruzzaman Nomani alias Ujjal, Sibion Dio, Sanjoy Chisim, Aminul Islam Raju, and Abdul Hannan.&nbsp;Police said the murder was premeditated and that the prime accused, Faisal Karim Masud, and his accomplice, Alamgir Sheikh,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/bangladesh-police-say-student-leaders-killers-fled-to-india" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">fled to India</a>&nbsp;following the attack.&nbsp;&ldquo;Faisal and another individual fled to India by crossing the border through Mymensingh,&rdquo; Nazrul Islam said.&nbsp;During the investigation, police recovered two foreign pistols, 52 rounds of ammunition, a motorcycle, fake number plates, and cheques amounting to Tk 218 crore linked to 53 bank accounts.&nbsp;DMP Detective Branch (DB) Additional Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said several other individuals involved in the killing have been identified, though their names cannot yet be disclosed to protect the investigation. Based on current findings, police believe the murder was politically motivated.&nbsp;Hadi was shot around 2:20 pm on Dec. 12 while riding a motorcycle on Bijoynagar Box Culvert Road under Paltan Police Station, after conducting a campaign near Motijheel Mosque. Police said Faisal Karim Masud and an accomplice opened fire on him before fleeing the scene.&nbsp;Critically injured, Hadi was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later transferred to Evercare Hospital. As his condition worsened, he was flown to Singapore on Dec. 15 and died on Dec. 18 while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital.&nbsp;His death sparked&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/violence-erupts-in-bangladesh-after-wounded-youth-leader-dies" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">nationwide protests</a>&nbsp;and widespread public outrage, with demonstrations held across Dhaka and other parts of the country demanding swift justice.&nbsp;Hadi&rsquo;s funeral prayers were held on December 20 at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Complex, drawing tens of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/tens-of-thousands-attend-funeral-of-killed-bangladesh-student-leader" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">thousands of mourners</a>. The chief adviser, members of the advisory council, and senior civil and military officials attended the funeral.&nbsp;He was later buried beside the Mausoleum of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on the Dhaka University campus.&nbsp;Following the shooting, Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Mancho, filed a case with Paltan Police Station on Dec. 14 on charges of attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, and use of dangerous weapons.&nbsp;After Hadi&rsquo;s death, a Dhaka court ordered the inclusion of Section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code in the case on Dec. 20.
