ISLAMABAD: Bangladesh&rsquo;s Youth and Sports Advisor Dr Asif Nazrul has said there is no conducive atmosphere for Bangladesh to participate in the ICC Men&rsquo;s T20 World Cup in India, citing serious security concerns raised by the International Cricket Council (ICC).&nbsp;According to state-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Dr Nazrul made the remarks on Monday after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) received a letter from the ICC&rsquo;s security team highlighting potential risks to the Bangladesh team if it travels to India for the tournament. Speaking to reporters at the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Bhaban, Dr Nazrul said the ICC security assessment pointed to three key issues. These include increased security risks if star fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is part of the squad, potential threats if Bangladeshi supporters move around wearing the national team jersey, and rising security challenges as India approaches its election period. He said these observations clearly demonstrate that conditions are not <a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/bangladesh-say-will-not-play-t20-world-cup-matches-if-in-india" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">suitable for Bangladesh to play the T20 World Cup in India</a>. Terming the ICC&rsquo;s stance as &ldquo;bizarre and unrealistic,&rdquo; Dr Nazrul said it is unreasonable to expect Bangladesh to field a team without its leading bowler, restrict fans from wearing national colors, or even consider election-related adjustments simply to participate in a cricket tournament. Dr Nazrul further alleged that the prevailing communal situation in India, along with what he described as a sustained anti-Bangladesh campaign over the past 16 months, has made it impossible for the Bangladeshi team to feel secure. He stressed that cricket should not be controlled by a single market or country, adding that if the ICC truly functions as a global body, it should offer Bangladesh the opportunity to play the T20 World Cup in a neutral venue such as Sri Lanka. The sports adviser said Bangladesh would not accept any compromise on player safety and dignity, adding that the lack of a safe playing environment in India has been clearly established. He concluded by saying that when even Indian cricket authorities indicate concerns about Bangladeshi players&rsquo; participation, it leaves little doubt that there is no viable playing environment for Bangladesh anywhere in India.

ISLAMABAD: Bangladesh&rsquo;s Ministry of Youth and Sports Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul on Saturday said that the country would &ldquo;not accept any insult&rdquo; to their cricket after Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) released left arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman upon Board of Control for Cricket in India&rsquo;s (BCCI) request.&nbsp; According to Hindustan Times, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s Member of Legislative Assembly Sangeet Som criticized Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan for including the Bangladeshi pacer in KKR given the political tensions between the two countries. Last month, factory worker Dipu Chandra Das, 27, was beaten and set on fire in Bangladesh&#39;s Mymensingh district by a crowd that accused the victim of blasphemy. At least 10 people were arrested in connection with his death, Reuters reported. Consequently, hundreds of people protested near Bangladesh&#39;s High Commission in New Delhi against the lynching, exacerbating tensions between the two neighbors. Subsequently, Rahman was released by KKR earlier on the instructions of BBCI&rsquo;s Secretary Devajit Saikia.&nbsp; While condemning the removal of the Bangladeshi pacer, Minister Nazrul said that the decision from the Indian Cricket Board came in light of &ldquo;bowing to extremist communal groups.&rdquo;&nbsp; He said that he has asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board to explain the entire matter to the International Cricket Council in a letter, informing that in a country where a Bangladeshi national cannot play despite being contracted, &ldquo;the entire Bangladeshi cricket team cannot feel safe going to play in the World Cup.&rdquo; In a post on his Facebook account, Nazrul said that he also instructed the board to request that Bangladesh&#39;s World Cup matches be held in Sri Lanka. The minister added that he requested the minister of Information and Broadcasting to &ldquo;stop broadcasting IPL matches!&rdquo; &ldquo;We will not accept any insult to Bangladeshi cricket, cricketers and Bangladesh under any circumstances,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;The days of slavery are over!&rdquo; Nazrul added. Separately, according to ESPN, BCB&rsquo;s media committee chairman Amzad Hussain said that Bangladesh has three matches in Kolkata, &ldquo;so we will write to the ICC regarding what has happened today.&quot;

Hadi, a vocal India critic who took part in last year&#39;s mass uprising, was shot by masked assailants in Dhaka earlier this month and later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Singapore. His death set off violent protests with angry mobs torching several buildings, including two major newspapers deemed to favor India, as well as a prominent cultural institution. With protests being held across the country almost daily, pressure has been growing on Bangladesh&#39;s interim government to arrest the killers of Hadi, who was set to contest the general elections in February next year. &lsquo;Killing was premeditated&rsquo;&quot;The killing was premeditated.
