ISLAMABAD: Pakistan&rsquo;s civilian leadership has formally approved the appointment of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as the country&rsquo;s first Chief of Defense Forces (CDF), with both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif endorsing the new top military role, according to official statements issued Thursday.&nbsp;The president approved the five-year appointment after receiving the summary from the prime minister, confirming that Munir will concurrently serve as Chief of the Army Staff.&nbsp;President Zardari also endorsed a two-year extension for Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, to take effect when his current tenure ends on March 19 next year. He conveyed &ldquo;best wishes&rdquo; to both senior officers for &ldquo;their successful tenures,&rdquo; according to the President&rsquo;s Secretariat.&nbsp;PM Sharif also congratulated Munir, calling the appointment &ldquo;aligned with contemporary and modern warfare requirements,&rdquo; adding that it would &ldquo;further strengthen the country&rsquo;s defense.&rdquo;&nbsp;&ldquo;Under Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir&rsquo;s leadership, our brave armed forces have dealt a decisive defeat to the enemy,&rdquo; the prime minister said, praising what he described as a &ldquo;remarkable victory&rdquo; that had &ldquo;enhanced Pakistan&rsquo;s prestige and honor worldwide.&rdquo;&nbsp;Sharif separately congratulated Air Chief Marshal Sidhu on his extension, saying the Pakistan Air Force had demonstrated &ldquo;exceptional professional skills&rdquo; under his command, claiming that its operations had &ldquo;destroyed enemy warplanes and asserted dominance.&rdquo;&nbsp;The prime minister said all national institutions would continue to work together for &ldquo;Pakistan&rsquo;s defense, development, and prosperity,&rdquo; adding: &ldquo;Together, we will make the country&rsquo;s defense invincible.&rdquo;

ISLAMABAD: Egypt&rsquo;s Foreign Minister, Dr Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, called on Pakistan&rsquo;s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in Rawalpindi on Monday, the military said.&nbsp;According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistani military&rsquo;s media wing, the meeting reviewed the state of bilateral relations, with a particular focus on defence and security cooperation, military-to-military engagement, training collaboration, and regional peace and stability.&nbsp;Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening coordination and further deepening long-standing ties between Pakistan and Egypt, especially in defence and other strategic areas.&nbsp;The Egyptian foreign minister conveyed warm greetings from Egypt&rsquo;s leadership and reiterated Cairo&rsquo;s interest in expanding cooperation with Pakistan across all sectors.&nbsp;The two sides also highlighted the importance of sustained high-level exchanges to address emerging regional challenges and evolving security dynamics.&nbsp;Dr Abdelatty is on a two-day official visit to Pakistan. During his earlier engagement with Foreign Minister Dar on Sunday, both sides agreed to revive stalled institutional mechanisms and expand cooperation across multiple sectors.

Both sides reaffirm commitment to strengthening coordination and further deepening long-standing ties between Pakistan and Egypt.

Operation Bunyanum Marsoos In Maa&rsquo;rka-e-Haq/Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, the Pakistan Armed Forces defeated the enemy with their professional skill and determination, further strengthening the confidence of the nation, he said. The Field Marshal said that by conducting highly professional operations against the enemy, the Rafale aircraft were shot down. The COAS said that multiple enemy bases, including S-400 systems, were targeted, and Pakistan also demonstrated its full capabilities in multi-domain warfare. &ldquo;With the grace of Allah and national resolve, we, as a nation united, faced the enemy like a wall of steel,&rdquo; he said. The Field Marshal added, &ldquo;Pakistan once again achieved victory against an enemy intoxicated by the arrogance of its misguided supremacy.&rdquo; &ldquo;India rushed to make accusations and avoided impartial investigations,&rdquo; he said. &lsquo;Self-created evidence&rsquo;&nbsp; India&rsquo;s staging of self-created evidence was indicative of the politicization of terrorism for the vested interest of the ruling regime, Pakistan&rsquo;s chief of army staff said. &ldquo;Due to clear victory over a numerically superior enemy, Pakistan has not only earned the respect and appreciation from the people of the country but of the international community,&rdquo; he said.
