ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy demonstrated vigilance and commitment to international maritime obligations, promptly responding to a distress call from the offshore vessel MV Gautam in the Arabian Sea carrying six Indians and one Indonesian crew member, the military&#39;s media wing said on Tuesday.&nbsp;&ldquo;The vessel carrying seven crew members, six Indian and one Indonesian, suffered a critical technical failure while en route from Oman to India, leaving it stranded at sea,&rdquo; the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.&nbsp;According to the ISPR, upon receiving the alert from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) Mumbai, Pakistan Navy initiated a swift response and deployed PMSA Ship Kashmir.&nbsp;&ldquo;The ship provided food, medical aid, and technical assistance to help restore essential systems and ensure crew safety,&rdquo; it added.&nbsp;The operation underscores Pakistan Navy&rsquo;s commitment to maritime safety and humanitarian responsibilities, irrespective of nationality, and highlights its readiness to respond to emergencies across regional waters.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the Pakistan Navy for rescuing an 18-member crew during an emergency humanitarian relief operation in the North Arabian Sea, said a statement from the prime minister&rsquo;s office.&nbsp;The crew members included nationals from China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia, said the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).&nbsp;The Navy picked a &ldquo;distress call from Merchant Vessel Gold Autumn,&rdquo; which was approximately &ldquo;200 Nautical Miles (370 km) off Pakistan&rsquo;s coast,&rdquo; ISPR confirmed.&nbsp;&ldquo;PNS Hunain provided medical aid, assisted in firefighting, carried out damage assessment, and successfully rescued the crew.&rdquo;&nbsp;The evacuated crew was safely transported to Karachi for medical care and repatriation to their respective countries. The prime minister remarked that the Pakistan Navy will continue to play its role as a first responder in all types of maritime emergencies.

Spokesman Captain Tim Hawkins said two Iranian boats and a drone approached the M/V Stena Imperative, &quot;and threatened to board and seize the tanker.&quot; A US destroyer responded with air support and escorted the tanker onwards. British maritime security firm Vanguard Tech reported that the Stena Imperative was approached by three pairs of small armed boats belonging to the Revolutionary Guards while transiting the strait 16 nautical miles (30 kilometers) north of Oman. The ship increased speed and maintained course, the firm added, stressing it did not enter Iranian waters. But the Iranian news agency Fars said a vessel, whose nationality it did not specify, had entered the country&#39;s territorial waters in the Strait of Hormuz. &quot;It was therefore warned and immediately left Iranian waters,&quot; Fars said.
