Four decades of steel pipe manufacturing for Pakistan’s infrastructure projects

ISLAMABAD: Jamal Pipe Industries has kept its manufacturing operations running around the clock for four decades, producing steel pipes and infrastructure products for utility, construction and public-sector projects across Pakistan and abroad.

Headquartered in Lahore, the company began as a steel trading business before establishing its own steel pipe manufacturing plant, and later expanded into polymer piping with the launch of Jamal PVC Pipe (Pvt) Ltd in 2006.

The third generation of the founding family now manages the business.

“We are basically in the pipe manufacturing business. Our main production line is dedicated to steel pipes,” Muazzam Sami, an engineer at Jamal Pipes, told Pakistan TV Digital.

“We manufacture pipes ranging from ½ inch to 18 inches in diameter using online high-frequency welding technology. Our daily production capacity is approximately 100 tons,” he said.

The company manufactures mild steel and galvanized iron line pipes, along with tubular, octagonal and conical poles used in electricity transmission, street lighting and public infrastructure projects.

The group also manufactures pipes used for water supply, agriculture, gas and chemical distribution, sewerage systems and fiber-optic cable networks.

“In addition to pipes, we also manufacture guardrails and street lighting poles,” Sami said. “Our street lighting poles are installed in housing societies, along GT Road, at metro stations and in other public infrastructure projects.”

The company’s guardrails are used along motorways and road boundaries as a safety measure.

“Our guardrails are primarily used along motorways and road boundaries,” he added.

Jamal Pipe Industries also supplies products to international customers on an order basis and is licensed by the American Petroleum Institute, reflecting its commitment to meeting international quality standards.

Its institutional clients include Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, National Engineering Services Pakistan, Defense Housing Authority (DHA), and Metro.
